Jim Lauderdale To Release New "I'm A Song" Album In July

Iconic Grammy-winning singer/songwriter and entertainer is set to deliver a mighty 20 song set which will include the classic "The King Of Broken Hearts."

Known the world over for his strong songwriting and as both a Grammy and Americana Award Winning musician in the Americana Bluegrass and Country music communities, Jim Lauderdale announced today that he’ll be releasing his 26th album on July 1, 2014. 

The album, titled I’m A Song will feature 20 tracks and features all-star musicians, special guests and courtiers. Guests include Lee Ann Womack, Buddy Miller and Patty Loveless. His band on the album features James Burton, Al Perkins,  Kenny Vaughn, Dennis Crouch, Stuart Duncan and John Oates. Co-writers on the record include longtime collaborator Robert Hunter, Gary Allan, Bobby Bare, Odie Blackmon, Jimmy Ritchey, Mark Irwin, Matt Warren and Rock icon Elvis Costello.

The album will feature a re-recording of “The King of Broken Hearts,” one of his most-requested songs and one that was recorded by George Strait and was originally featured on Lauderdale’s long out-of-print album from 1991, Planet Of Love. In 2013 his collaboration with Buddy Miller, Buddy And Jim, was nominated for a Grammy and several Americana Music Awards.
