Songwriter Angaleena Presley signs Record Deal with Slate Creek Records

The (former?) Pistol Annies member becomes final member of trio to have solo record deal, joining Miranda Lambert and Ashley Monroe.

Rising record label Slate Creek Records is giving Angaleena Presley her own record deal, making each member of the Pistol Annies recording artists outside of the songwriting trio/collective. Presley signed with Slate Creek (helmed by Garth Fundis and owned by Jim Burnett) because they promised her artistic freedom.

“"Part of what I loved about Garth Fundis and Jim Burnett at Slate Creek is that they understood where I wanted to go creatively," said a Kentucky native. "Producing this album was important to me because of its content. I've lived every word of it and knew exactly how I wanted it to sound."

"We could not be happier about Angaleena joining our Slate Creek team and giving us the opportunity to release her remarkable solo debut," said Slate Creek's President & Creative Director Fundis. "From the first listen, we knew we wanted to be a part of this and can hardly wait for others to hear what she has created. Angaleena is both poet and artist in the truest sense of those words."

Slate Creek Records will release the as yet untitled album later this year. The label experienced early critical praise in 2013 with releases from Neal McCoy and Brandy Clark, whose “12 Stories” made many best of 2013 lists.
