Award-Winning Producer Jay Joyce Signs Publishing Deal With Warner/Chappell

The eccentric producer behind Eric Church and Little Big Town's award-winning albums signs new deal with the publishing giant.

If you read the liner notes to your favorite albums, one name which has become a constant on the Country music scene is Jay Joyce, the artistic and musical genius behind the production of recent albums from superstar Eric Church and the breakthrough album for Little Big Town (Tornado). He’s also worked with Keith Urban for tracks on Fuse, Amos Lee, Randy Rogers Band, Emmylou Harris, The Warren Brothers, Jewel, Thomas Rhett, Gary Allan (“It Ain’t The Whiskey”), Brandi Clarlile,  and as a musician on albums from artists like Kelly Pickler and Tim McGraw (also the albums he produces). You know the awesome groovy guitar solo on “The Outsiders?” That’s Jay Joyce.

Jay today announced a partnership with Warner Chappell Publishing (the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group) for worldwide co-publishing agreement for himself and his newly-established publishing company Neon Cross. The two companies will jointly sign and develop writers and artists across multiple genres. Melissa Spillman, formerly in A&R with Capital Nashville, has been hired as Director of Publishing for Neon Cross.

“I am thrilled to team up with such a storied and progressive group, and am looking forward to a long prosperous journey together,” said Joyce.

Ben Vaughn, Executive Vice President, Warner/Chappell Music Nashville, said, “Wow—getting to work with Jay Joyce is a music lover’s dream come true. His talent cuts across all genres of music and he is the definition of a music innovator. It’s a real honor to welcome Jay & Melissa into the family.”

Many recent projects that have been helmed by Jay Joyce have been recorded at his new St. Charles Studio, an East Nashville church that he converted into a recording studio. This was where Eric Church’s The Outsiders and Amos Lee’s Mountains of Sorrow, Rivers of Song were recorded. Jay Joyce also is the longtime producer of Alt-Rock stars Cage The Elephant (and the recent chart-topping hit "Come A Little CLoser").
