Single Review: Tate Stevens - Better At Night

Tate Stevens only released one single in his time with Sony Nashville and it seemed as if his debut album -- while good -- came out at the wrong time. With "Better At Night" and a new team at RPM Entertainment, things are looking up for Tate. Is this song a hit?

Tate Stevens released one song to radio from his self-titled debut album but while it showed the immense talent and potential that the rising star had while winning the second season of The X-Factor USA, Stevens deserved better than that. Sure, he got to release an album but that seemingly was it. Now signed to RPM Entertainment, Stevens’ first single “Better At Night” is a great showcase of what lies ahead.

Yes, he’s still a Country singer but with “Better At Night,” he sings a song that showcases his natural Missouri twang while also being contemporary and fun to listen to. The song has the kind of radio-ready vibe to it with lyrics that won’t set the world on fire but they’re not really part of the ‘bro country movement’ either. Instead, Tate Stevens gets to show off the considerable charm and vocal talent that’s like a cross between Chris Young and Craig Morgan.

The production is clean and crisp (as it was on Tate Stevens) and Tate finally gets to offer up a song to radio that should have no problem being added to the dial across America in the coming weeks and months. “Better At Night” was written by Matt Ramsey and Andrew Dorff.
