Single Review: Cole Swindell - Hope You Get Lonely Tonight

With his self-titled album set to release on February 11, 2014, "Chillin' It" singler Cole Swindell has issued a pre-order on iTunes for the album and it includes this tune. Take a look here to see what we think of the songs' potential hitworthyness.

Co-written by Cole with Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line, “Hope You Get Lonely Tonight” is destined for success. The song may have a typical ‘call me when you get lonely’ concept, with a few clichéd lines but those lines are used for good reason. Sure, “blame it on the whisky” is used. So is the word “tailgate.” And all of this talk about moonshine? Guilty. But, it works.  In fact, it works so well that when I hear it, I immediately start swaying. So while the song is a bit slowed down, I still throw my hands in the air and let it move me, which is all one can ask a song to do.

Swindell who is on Luke Bryan’s recently announced second leg of the, “My Kind of Party” tour, is an enthusiastic and passionate performer. He sings with his hands and I like that. He feels the lyrics and looks genuinely excited about his job.  Aside from writing some really awesome songs, he appears to be a giant goofball who knows exactly who he is musically, regardless of what some of the critics may say about his style. “Hope You Get Lonely Tonight” is a well-written song, which is sure to gain attention in this new “Pop/Country”, “Bro-Country” world.
