Roughstock's Weekly Playlist For The Week Of January 23, 2014: Featuring Florida Georgia Line, Scotty McCreery And Cassadee Pope

This is the debut week for our new weekly playlist feature. Every Thursday we'll bring you a weekly playlist of songs we love and they aren't always gonna be singles. This week features songs from Brandy Clark, Cassadee Pope, Scotty McCreery, Charlie Worsham, Florida Georgia Line and more!

This week we’re starting something new. Each thursday of the week, we’ll make a playlist which features ten songs that we like for various reasons at the Roughstock offices. These songs can be either singles or album tracks and it’s just one more way we can help you sift through the mountains of music that comes out each week of the year. We hope you enjoy this new weekly series and listen to these songs through our Spotify embedded player (you should be able to listen via your computer and/or phone/tablets using the spotify widget). Spotify is a free player and service for users and the most effective way we can think of curating these weekly playlists.

This week’s playlist features 10 of the best songs that we can think of of the moment. These are from mostly mainstream albums and some of the picks may surprise you. We would love to hear your feedback via @roughstock on twitter to let us know what you think of the playlist or what song you thnk we should include on a future playlist.

THE WEEKLY PLAYLIST FOR THE WEEK OF JANUARY 23, 2014.

1. “Rubberband” - Charlie Worsham:

We had to go with “Rubberband” because from the very first time we heard this track from the album of the same name, we’ve been hooked on the killer groove and percussive nature of the track, to say nothing about the witty, insightful lyric.

2. “Hold My Hand” - Brandy Clark:

This song is one of the best tracks off of 12 Stories and one that continues to hit us in the guy every time we hear Clark’s pristine voice sing the lyrics.

3. “What We Ain’t Got” - Jake Owen:

One of the best songs Jake Owen has ever recorded and one definitely worthy of hearing on this playlist, with a strong lyric and an obviously Country melody. What’s not to like?

4. “This Time Around” - Will Hoge:

The co-writer of “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” and singer of “Strong” (from the Chevrolet Trucks campaign) has a wonderful album of his own called Never Give In. This track is one of the many highlights from the album.

5. “One Dirt Road” - Justin Moore:

Who can’t agree with the strong sentiment that Justin Moore provides on the track from his latest album Off The Beaten Path.

6. “I Will Love You Still” - Darius Rucker & Mallary Hope:

One of the best songs not yet released to the radio from Darius’ latest Country album (the same album with “Radio” and “Wagon Wheel”), this song showcases two great vocalists in Rucker and Hope and gives us hope that Mallary Hope could end up with another record deal very soon.

7. “Feelin’ It” - Scotty McCreery:

One of the tracks from See You Tonight (which is way more radio friendly than his debut album Clear As Day) that could potentially be a hit in the future, we’ve simply added this because we love the groove to the song and that was what was needed for this playlist which features a lot of slower, midtempo or downright ballads within it.

8. “I Wish I Could Break Your Heart” - Cassadee Pope:

A playful little track that sounds really good coming through the radio speakers.

9. “Headphones” - Florida Georgia Line:

One of the best songs that B.K. and Tyler have recorded to date, bar none. Better than the singles and it could have crossover potential with radio just like “Cruise” did.

10. "Best Seat In The House” - LoCash Cowboys:

Anyone who has lost a parent or cherished grandparent will relate to this song. This is, quite simply, what country music does better than any other kind of genre and it’s easily the best single of the LoCash Cowboys’ career to date.
