Country Album Chart News: The Week of December 11, 2013: Garth Brooks, Duck Dynasty, The Sound of Music, Blake, Lady A & Scotty McCreery

It’s been 6 YEARS since Garth Brooks topped these charts with an album and He does so here, only this time he scores the Top 200 Albums Chart #1 too! And while that album -- The Ultimate Hits -- is included in Blame It All On My Roots, the other 5 discs are new material (4 CDs, 1 DVD).

With sales of 146,000 box sets, Garth Brooks scored the #1 album in all of America this week. Blame It All On My Roots is a six CD, 2 DVD collection consisting of four new albums of cover tracks and then, on top of that, the Ultimate Hits collection added in. So with over 300,000 sold to date, the album is already considered double platinum (and since it was ordered up to 500,000 copies by exclusive retailer Walmart, it’s already 4x Platinum certification eligible for sales to stores). the second biggest-selling country album this week is the Duck The Halls ompilation from Duck Dynasty’s A Robertson Family Christmas. That album is now officially entering a mark where it will definitely be Gold-certified (it’s less than 30k away) and could actually en uo being Platinum-certified by the RIAA. Luke Bryan’s Crash My Party is #3 with sales now at 1.352 million sold. Sitting at #4 is Jake Onwe’s Days Of Gold with sale sof 40k while Florida Georgia Line rounds out the Top 5 with Here’s To The Good Times (This Is How We Roll) album now at 1.375 million sold.

Blake Shelton’s “Cheers, It’s Christmas” and “Based On A True Story” lead way; Lady Antebellum Places 2 albums inside Top 10.

There’s a lot to like about this weeks’ chart if you’re Blake Shelton and Lady Antebellum. Both artists take up two slots of the #6-#10 spaces on this week’s rundown with Cheers, It’s Christmas, which is certified Gold by the RIAA for 500k units sold. Blake’s Platinum-selling ACA Album of the Year winner (Joining the CMA and maybe ACM in 2014) Based On A True Story… is #7 while Lady Antebellum’s Gold-selling On This Winter’s Night is #7. Taylor Swift’s 4x Certified Platinum RED is now at 3.9 million in sales and sits at #9 with Lady Antebellum’s nearly Gold Golden (Deluxe) sitting at #10.

Our 10 Notables includes a mixture of Up and Coming stars from “Reality TV” and also Christmas Music, including Trace Adkins’ “The King’s Gift” and Kelly Clarkson’s “Wrapped In Red.”

Danielle Bradbery’s two-week old self-titled album continues to sell at a steady pace while Scotty McCreery’s latest See You Tonight is next with sales now at 137k copies sold while Scotty’s Christmas With Scotty has now sold 375k to date (and is certified Gold by the RIAA as well). Trace Adkins’ new The King’s Gift continues to gain sales momentum and feels like it may end up a timeless and treasured classic.

Hunter Hayes’ self-titled album (including the 2013 ENCORE! edition) is next in our rundown and has moved more than 1.04 million units to date (and is certified Platinum). Finally, Kelly Clarkson’s Wrapped In Red moved another 112k this week to bring sales to 442k and getting it close to Duck The Halls in terms of which album will lead the Christmas album sales of this year. Kellie Pickler's latest returns to our rundown after a week away and has sold 32k to date. Finally, The soundtrack to Carrie Underwood’s starring The Sound Of Music TV special has debuted in the Top 20 of all genres with 38k in sales. Next week, we’ll see if Krystal Keith, Nashville Season 2, Volume 1 and Zac Brown Band’s The Grohl Sessions EP can place on our rundown. Until then, happy shopping!
