Album Review: Krystal Keith - Whiskey & Lace

Krystal Keith has released her debut album and while she works with a handful of songs from father Toby, the album also manages to showcase her potential to be a star in her own right. Continue here to see our full-length review of Whiskey & Lace.

Sonically, the production (from Mark Wright & Toby Keith) places Krystal more on the ‘traditional’ side of the ledger yet not so traditional that it doesn’t fit inside a modern radio playlist. It’s a delicate balance but Krystal an her team at Show Dog-Universal have managed to deliver a sonically pleasing recording with Whiskey & Lace. “Beautiful Weakness” and “Him and This Tattoo” both feel like potential hits along with “Doin’ It.” “Weakness” is a vocal showcase for Krystal and she has a strong, powerful sound that compares nicely to some of the top stars of Country music and it also features her father Toby on harmonies.

It’s not easy to follow in the footsteps of your successful parent and it’s even more difficult when your parent is one of the biggest stars in that chosen profession. So when Krystal Keith’s Whiskey & Lace was announced, it was easy to think that the album would come and go. After one listen to Whiskey & Lace, it’s certainly apparent that Krystal not only has the potential to be a star but she has the talent as both a singer and writer to become a force in Country music.
