While Darius Rucker is putting the game plan together for work on his next studio album, he knows one thing for sure ... the sound and style will be true to the genre that has embraced him.

"We kind of wait until the songs start coming [to determine the direction of the music]," Rucker tells Roughstock. "A big part of me wants to make a real old-school record, but you know ... even if you think you're making an old-school record, when it's done and after the production these days, nothing seems old-school. Country is always important to me, and it's always going to be a country record. So that's what I'm telling people ... it's going to be a country record."

Even though he has been in Charleston over the holiday spending time with his family, he is still thinking music.

"I've been writing and getting songwriters to come to Charleston over the holidays," he reveals. "In January, we will be picking back up on the road. It's really non-stop for me. I'm never really not getting ready for the next project. I'm ready to start writing and get back into the studio."

In January, Rucker will launch the second leg of his True Believers Tour, featuring David Nail and the Eli Young Band. Darius' most recent album, True Believers, was released in early 2013 and is nearly Gold. It featues the hits "Radio," "True Believers," and the Double Platinum hit "Wagon Wheel."
