Well, it’s long been suspected that Garth Brooks would return with new music and just to prove the point, he’s releasing a  8 CD/DVD Combo Box Set exclusively to Walmart stores on Thanksgiving Day, 2013.

The new release, titled “Blame It All On My Roots: Five Decades of Influences” will feature one of America’s best-selling artists performing covers of 40 songs from artists who have influenced his career, including James Taylor, Gladys Knight, Jerry Lee Lewis and Otis Redding, to name but a few.

The songs will be organized by specific musical types (genres) with each of the 4 discs containing 10 songs from a certain genre. The discs will be titled “Classic Rock,” “Blue Eyed Soul,” “Melting Pot,” and, of course,  “Classic Country.” The “Melting Pot” disc contains songs which didn’t exactly fit into Brooks’ definitions of the other three influences. The album includes a cover of Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn’s “After The Fire Is Gone” with Trisha Yearwood, who sings harmony vocals on a number of the recordings as well.

The Box set will be released on Black Friday with the addition of2 DVD bonus featuring the live show live from Las Vegas and many of his classic music videos -- The Ultimate Hits --, where Garth has been performing his one-man show the past couple of years. A few of these selections will be performed on the telecast on CNS that night. The Ultimate Hits 2 Disc collection will ALSO be in the collection. details here.
