Country Album Chart News: The Week of November 20, 2013: Christmas Albums From Duck Dynasty, Kelly, Blake, Lady A & Scotty Lead way; Kellie Pickler Debuts

The post-CMA, pre-Christmas shopping season lull is upon us which means not many albums scored sales growth outisde of the albums debuting high up the charts with LAdy Antebellum and Kellie Pickler's new releases being joined by a load of popular Christmas releases on this week's chart. Details here!

They have the #1 TV Show on Cable TV and a massive following so it’s not surprising that Duck Dynasty’s The Robertson Family stay at #1 for a third week with their Duck The Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas album for EMI Records Nashville. The collection of Christmas songs from the family (and guests like George Strait, Luke Bryan and Alison Krauss) sold over 66,000 copies in its third week (just under 9% off last week and is definitely going to be a huge holiday seller this shopping season with Deluxe editions available at Walmart (a limited-edition ZinePak and a 15 track CD (other stores get 14 tracks). The bonus track? Willie Robertson’s “Santa Looked A Lot Like Daddy”), one of three songs on the collection featuring the CEO of the family’s Duck Commander business. (Review of the album is here).

The rest of this week’s Top 5 features usuau suspects like Crash My Party from Luke Bryan (it’s now moved 1.176 million copies), Here’s To The Good Times from Florida Georgia Line (it’s moved 1.25 million before the Deluxe edition releases next week) and then we have Kellie Pickler showing up with her Black River Entertainment debut The Woman I Am. The #19 debut is her lowest debut to date but it’s pretty strong nonetheless for an artist that’s struggling to score any sort of radio airplay. Rounding out the Top 5 is Blake Shelton’s Based On A True Story… It’s now moved 981k to date and is certified Platinum. It’ll surpass the 1,000,000 scanned mark in a week or two (especially in 2 weeks after Christmas sales have started).

Lady Antebellum’s Deluxe Edition of Golden helps grease the skids of the album’s rise to Gold, Scotty McCreery Surpasses 100k before Holiday sales while Blake Shelton’s Cheers, It’s Christmas re-enters Top 10.

The second half fo this week’s Top 10 includes Lady Antebellum’s Golden, the album has now scanned nearly 500,000 copies and is certainly now officially RIAA eligible. The Deluxe album’s new hits like “Compass” and “And The Radio Played” are certain to help the album remain a big seller. Thomas Rhett is #7 this week with his three week old It Goes Like This debut album while Blake Shelton’s Cheers, It’s Christmas is now rising back up the charts with a 45% sales increase over last week. The album sold nearly 500,000 copies last year (it’s already certified Gold by the RIAA) and will certainly scan past that number this holiday season. Scotty McCreery’s sophomore album (third overall) See You Tonight moves to 100k scanned and there’s little doubt in my mind that it’ll join the other two albums as RIAA certified Gold/Platinum albums. Toby Keith’s latest Drinks After Work rounds out the Top 10 with sales at 55k after three weeks. The album features the hit title track and new hit “Shut up And Hold On.”

Lady Antebellum, Scotty McCreery and Kelly Clarkson Christmas Albums lead notable releases in this week’s rundown.

With a sales increase of 65%, Lady Antebellum’s year-old On This Winter’s Night returns to our chart with sales now totalling 457k to date (it’s already certified Gold). Right behind the trio on our rundown is Cassadee Pope with her 6 week old album Frame By Frame. It has now moved 91k while KEith Urban’s Fuse surpassed the 200k sold mark with 5,000 more fans taking home the popular star’s latest Capitol Nashville album. After getting a Post-CMA Awards bump, Kacey Musgraves’ Same Trailer Different Park moves to #72 this week with sales now at 251k total. Finally, we have two Christmas albums rounding out our rundown, Last year’s Gold-certified Christmas With Scotty from Scotty McCreery and now mom-to-be Kelly Clarkson’s Wrapped In Red. Clarkson has sold 155k in just three weeks on the chart (and is likely to run neck-and-neck with Duck Dynasty’s Roberson Family for 2013’s best-selling Christmas album.
