Written by Paisley with Chris DuBois and Luke Laird, "Beat This Summer" marks the 22nd number one hit for Paisley as a performer and his 19th as a writer, while also serving as the 14th number one song for both DuBois and Laird.

Friends crowded into the CMA offices to celebrate with the three writers.  Publishers Sea Gayle Music, Universal Music Publishing and Creative Nation music, as well as label Arista Nashville also showed up to offer congratulations.  "Beat This Summer" is the first number song for independent publishing company Creative Nation, founded by Laird and his wife Beth Laird.
