It's been over a year since Big and Rich has had a new single out on country radio. In May 2012, they released their Top 20 hit "That's Why I Pray" from their Hilbilly Jedi album. While the album only produced one single, the duo's Big Kenny reveals that he and John Rich have been working under the radar on new Big and Rich tunes that they are both anxious to get out to the fans.

"John and I have covertly been working on a new album," Big Kenny shares to Roughstock from his home studio in Nashville. "We started on it in the spring ... started writing songs, and then we got a little more aggressive about it. We made some decisions. A lot of songs on our first album were just demos anyway, and that thing blew up, right? So we thought why don't we just go into the studio like the old times and do that ... not tell anybody. So that's what we did."

After the duo presented the new songs to their record label, Warner Bros. Nashville, they received nothing but thumbs up for the new project. "They thought it was our best album since [our debut album] Horse of a Different Color," Big Kenny says proudly.

While there is still no release date on what will be Big and Rich's fifth studio album, they have started playing some of the songs out live in their stage shows. "This is as fresh as it gets," smiles Big Kenny. "It's right now ... it's stuff that's going down right now."
