Ashton Shepherd - "This Is America" (Pickin' Shed Records):
Normally, songs that name check the red, white, and blue seem a little forced to me. However, I love Shepherd’s lyrics about Americans sticking together when the enemy strikes, and there’s something about a female with a high twang factor!
Carrie Underwood/Carrie Underwood - "Two Black Cadillacs / Jolene (Dee Jay Silver Remix)" (Sony Nashville)
I may be a bit old school to go for each of these remixes, but these songs kind of are tied together, so it does make a good fit.
Blake Shelton - "Mine Would Be You" (Warner Brothers Nashville):
To go from “Boys ‘Round Here” to this shows a lot of versatility. Thought this was the best song on the album when it came out...and still do!
George Strait - "I Believe" (MCA Nashville):
It’s George Strait. It’s heartfelt. And, I love the message though there are stronger songs on Love Is Everything.
David Shelby - "Kick A Little Dirt Around" (independent):
Nothing to say here.
Bush Hawg - "Crushin’" (RCA Nashville)
Sounds like Jason Aldean…
The Henningsens - "I Miss You" (Arista Nashville)
Beautiful performance from one of Country’s top new acts of 2013. If there’s any justice, this should be a number one hit!
John Karl - "Old River Road" (Spin Doctors):
Catchy. Love the acapella opening. Karl has the chops, and he gets to show it here.
Lonestar - "Life As We Know It " (4Star/The Orchard):
Strong lyrics, and you can tell that Richie McDonald has lived each of them. A strong performance.
O'Shea - "It Never Goes Away" (Sony Australia):
Stunning. Beautiful. A throwback to the days of Wynette and Mandrell. Simply Irresistible.
