Alan Jackson to Release "The Bluegrass Album" on September 24

A life-long dream is about to be fulfilled as Country Music icon Alan Jackson is set to release his first Bluegrass album, The Bluegrass Album in September. Continue on here to find out just why such a release is a dream come true for Jackson.

Fans of Alan Jackson are in for an extra special treat this fall. Not only is the singer releasing new music, but new music with a different twist. The Bluegrass Album will contain tracks that he cut early this year in a studio near Nashville, and will showcase a whole different avenue of the talent behind Jackson.

Jackson leaned on some of Nashville's most talented bluegrass musicians for the project, including banjo player Sammy Shelor, mandolinist Adam Steffey, bassist Tim Dishman, fiddler Tim Crouch, guitarist Scott Coney and Rob Ickes on reso-guitar. The album was produced by longtime producer and friend Keith Stegall and Jackson's nephew Adam Wright.

The Bluegrass Album will contain eight original tunes, along with covers of the Dillards' "There Is a Time," John Anderson's "Wild And Blue," and a waltz version of Bill Monroe's "Blue Moon of Kentucky."

Jackson has said many times, especially in the recent years, that he's always wanted to cut a bluegrass album. After decades of hit after hit, he finally felt the timing was right. Stay tuned to Roughstock for more information as it becomes available about Jackson and his highly-anticipated new project.
