Since announcing that Sugarland was taking an extended break for the band members to work on solo/side projects, fans of Jennifer Nettles have been anxiously awaiting what the music would sound like. Well this week, Nettles let the cat out of the bag on some of the music she has been slaving away over by hosting an invite-only party in Nashville where she previewed several of the new tunes.

“I wanted this record to breathe and be sparse and not be a wall of sound,” Nettles said at the event. "I wanted it to be emotional and raw. You can perfect and Pro Tools the God right out of a piece of art. I didn't want that."

Nettles worked closely with famed producer Rick Rubin on the music at his studio in Malibu, CA. Nettles took pride in co-writing all of the new material with some of music's most influential artists including pop rock writer/artists Butch Walker and Richard Marx, as well as country hitmakers Tim Owens and Derek George.

Nettles said the album's lead single, "That Girl," will be released to country radio in early August.
