With radio airplay for Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise” at their peak a couple of weeks ago, the long-running #1 single has begun its descent from the position, but not before it continues to craft new records and eventually reach 6m downloads (2,000,000 of those from the Remix alone).
Florida Georga Line has now sold 5.35 million downloads of “Cruise” in 66 weeks on the charts. It’s nearing some of the top-selling Country digital tracks of all time, including Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now,” a massively successful single which has sold 6.18 million tracks to date (Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” is Country’s all-time best with over 8 million tracks sold). In two weeks Luke Bryan is set to release his highly-anticipated Crash My Party album. The album’s lead single jumps back into the Top 5 from last week’s #8 slot with a gain of 19,000 singles sold, giving the track this week’s best-sales jump and making it our Riser of the Week. The single has now sold over 1.12 million downloads and is just ahead of Hunter Hayes 1.09 million seller, “I Want Crazy.” Blake Shelton’s “Boys Round Here” sits at #4 with total sales in the 1.73 million range while #5 is Randy Houser with his current week Billboard/BDS #1 hit “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight,” The single has now sold 757k downloads since being released on the How Country Feels album 27 weeks ago.
New Artists Hold Down 4 of the #6-10 slots this week, including Tyler Farr, Thomas Rhett and Brett Eldredge. Darius Rucker’s “Wagon Wheel” Reaches Double Platinum in Sales.
Florida Georgia Line may be dominating the sales charts but they’re still new artists. They’ll likely win the 2013 CMA Best New Artist award (probably rightfully so, given their massive sales success in just one year) at this year’s CMA Music Awards and they hold the #6 slot on this chart with current Country hit “Round Here.” The single is 50,000 downloads away from becoming their third (out of three) singles to secure Gold (or better) certification. The duo is followed by Double Platinum single “Wagon Wheel” from Darius Rucker. People may have wondered why he’d take a ‘well-known’ song and release it but look at the success, it’s the biggest-selling hit of his career. Thomas Rhett (who is one of the songwriters who wrote FGL’s “Round Here”) hits #8 this week with “It Goes Like This.” he sold 11% more than last week (over 4,000 tracks) to bring sales of the track to 341k. Right behind him is Tyler Farr with “Redneck Crazy,” a single which has now sold 491k and will be certified Gold by next week (it’s likely already sold enough singles this week to be eligible. Rounding out the Top 10 is Brett Eldredge with his Top 5 Airplay hit “Don’t Ya,” a single which gave Eldredge his first Gold single award at last-night’s CD Release party.
Notable Singles Include “Aw Naw” from Chris Young, Train’s “Bruises” with Ashley Monroe, Tim McGraw’s “Southern Girl” and Blake Shelton’s “Mine Would Be You.”
Carrie Underwood’s “See You Again” sits at #15 this week and is 25,000 tracks away from scoring another Gold plaque for her office while Kip Moore’s “Hey Pritty Girl” sits at #16 (It’s #1 on Mediabase/Aircheck’s radio chart this week). Chris Young’s “Aw Naw” is inching closer to Gold with sales for the lead single from A.M. at 180k. The song hits the Top 20 for the first time since the week of the single’s release 10 weeks ago. Train’s soothing “Bruises” (featuring the brilliant Ashley Monroe) has returned to the Top 30 this weekat #22 with sales now approaching 200k for the single which has scored on minor country charts and on Adult Pop/AAA stations. Tim McGraw’s latest hit from Two Lanes Of Freedom, “Southern Girl” is a fast-riser on radio and jumps from #57 to #24 on this week’s chart with sales increasing over 9,000 tracks (110% of last week’s sales) to bring sales for last week to 18,000. Blake Shelton -- too -- hits the Top 30 with the third single from Based on a True Story... “Mine Would Be You” sits at #26, a jump of 117% over last weeks sales and bringing the single from #64 to #26. Finally, Blake’s protege Danielle Bradbery sits at #27 with “The Heart of Dixie.” She’s sold over 93k tracks in just two weeks (and she debuted on the Top 50 of Billboard’s chart).
