George Jones "Amazing Grace" To Be Released By Bandit Records This Fall

Bandit Records today announced the posthumous release of George Jones first ever collection of Gospel songs, titled Amazing Grace. The album will be released on September 10, two days before the late legend's 82nd Birthday. Read on to find out more and to view the art for the project.

The songs produced by Billy Sherrill represent the final recording session between Jones and his respected former producer, both of whom are members of the Country Music Hall Of Fame.  At the time, Sherrill was retired and not interested in going back into the studio, but Jones finally convinced him to do a gospel collection as their final project together.

"Great Judgment Morning" was recorded at the end of Jones' Bradley Barn recording sessions, and includes vocals from Jones' friends Jessi Colter, Travis Tritt, Ricky Skaggs, Marty Stuart, and Connie Smith.

George Jones passed away on April 26, 2013 in the presence of family and friends, but had already given his blessing to theAmazing Grace project prior to his death.  Jones was a partner in Bandit Records, as his widow Nancy Jones continues to be.  Bandit served as the final label in Jones' career, with his Bandit recordings continuing to generate critical acclaim and solid sales numbers well into the iconic performer's twilight years.
