Florida Georgia Line's "Cruise" remix featuring Nelly has been much more than just a musical experience for the rising country duo. It has been a life changing event that they won't soon forget.

"He’s been a great friend through this process and a mentor," FGL's Brian Kelley tells Roughstock. "He's like a big brother to us. He’s amazing. He’s an incredible person."

The joining of forces was a natural decision, seeing how the country duo and rapper share the same label. So when country radio began requesting another version of "Cruise," the thought to involve Nelly was a "no brainer," according to Kelley. "We said if we’re going to do anything different with 'Cruise,' we want it to be more of a hip-hop kind of remix," Kelley explains. "Nelly’s name got thrown out there because he was a fan of the song. We were like, ‘Done deal! No brainer!’ We heard it probably two days later because it got done really quick. We were on our bus listening to it, probably 100 times! It got to the point where we loved it so much that we were fast-forwarding through the whole song up until right before the rap started. We’re super pumped! There’s not anybody who could have done it better than Nelly. It just sounds like Nelly. It couldn’t have worked any better."

Because of Nelly's addition to the song, "Cruise" has continued to sell like crazy on iTunes, already becoming a triple-platinum selling song.
