The Wall Street Journal readers caught country superstar Kenny Chesney on the cover of the May 24 edition's Arts & Entertainment Section, where the prestigious outlet named the singer as the "King of the Road." The article highlight's Chesney for his record-breaking touring life, including the unreported ticket sales from places like the Houston Rodeo, which sold in excess of a million tickets each of his last ten tours.

The Wall Street Journal spent a day in the life of Chesney in the midst of his 2013 No Shoes Nation Tour when he recently performed at Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

“It’s always odd inviting people into how it all comes together,” Chesney says of the experience. “You think it might seem tedious or boring because there’s a lot of hours involved and work that nobody sees. Who wants that to be what people think when they’re walking in? I want people to forget that kind of thing, to drop everything in their lives that weighs them down – and spend a few hours feeling good, enjoying the music and their friends. I think The Wall Street Journal captures what it takes to make that happen, and they do it in a way that isn’t so dry [that] you lose interest. Giving anyone that kind of access isn’t something I do lightly, but I think both the writer and the photographer really captured the heart of what this is in terms of what people don’t see.”
