Country Album Chart News For May 29, 2013: Darius Rucker "True Believers" Debuts At Number One, Features "Wagon Wheel" Single

With Darius Rucker's True Believers debuting at #1, Country Music has been under UMG Nashville's control for the past three weeks with label mates George Strait, and Lady Antebellum scoring #1 slots previously. Country Music also has nearly 40% of the Top 200's Top 30 Albums this week.

Darius Rucker is back with a huge single in “Wagon Wheel” and if not for Daft Punk’s best week ever with their new album, Darius Rucker would’ve had the #1 album in the USA with 84,000 copies sold of his third Capitol Nashville album True Believers.

With 84,000 copies sold, True Believers gives Darius Rucker his third-consecutive #1 debut on The Top Country Albums Chart. While sales are roughly 20,000 less than Charleston, SC 1966, it’s still a strong start. The 2nd-best-selling album is last week’s #1, George Strait’s Love Is Everything with sales of 168,000 after those two weeks. Lady Antebellum’s Golden is #3 and has sales of 258,000 in three weeks on the charts. Blake Shelton’s Based On A True Story... is now fourth on the chart with sales of 546,000 in 9 weeks on the charts. Finally, the Top 5 is rounded out by Florida Georgia Line’s Here’s To The Good Times. The popular duo has now sold 644,000 copies of their album.

“Life On A Rock” at #6, “Annie Up at #7. Tim McGraw’s Rebound Continues.

Kenny Chesney’s Life On A Rock continues to sell with sales over 246,000 while Pistol Annies Annie Up is now at 130,000 sold despite no big radio or digital download hits (yet).The Band Perry have this week’s #8 album with Pioneer now at 318,000 sold. Right behind them is their BMLG labelmate Tim McGraw with Two Lanes Of Freedom. The album has now sold 336,000 copies. Finally, rounding out the Top 10 is the BMLG/LionsGate soundtrack for ABC TV’s “Nashville” TV Show. The second soundtrack from the program has now sold 54,000 copies.

Country Music Places 11 Albums in Top 30 of the Billboard Top 200  Album Sales Chart. Notables include Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves and George Jones.

With sales of 11,000 copies, Taylor Swift’s RED rebounds and gives Country Music nearly 40% of the Top 30 Albums this week. Trace Adkins’ Love Will moved another 10,000 copies this week meanwhile Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away sits with a sales increase as well. Sales for the album are now over 1.45 million. Kacey Musgraves’ critically-acclaimed Same Trailer Different Park climbs up the charts with 132,000 in sales with “Blowin’ Smoke” gaining airplay on Top 40 Country Charts and “Follow Your Arrow” scoring on SiriusXM. Finally, George Jones’ Double-Platinum Super Hits and Randy Houser’s rising hit How Country Feels round out our notable albums section this week.
