Rising Star Easton Corbin Still Makes Time For Songwriting While Out On The Road

With hits like "All Over The Road," "I'm A Little More country Than That" and "Roll With it," Easton Corbin's star is certainly on the rise. So, for Easton Corbin in the past few years, it could be easy to let things fall out of balance. But one thing Corbin makes a priority, still to this day, is his songwriting.

When your career takes off in full swing, as it has for Easton Corbin in the past few years, it's easy to let things fall out of balance. But one thing Corbin makes a priority, still to this day, is his songwriting.

"I definitely need to make sure that I put time aside for it because its easy to get out there and things get do busy," Corbin tells Roughstock. "You definitely have to set some time aside
for that."

Luckily for Corbin, his formula for songwriting had been highly successful, so finding the groove once focused makes things flow fairly easy.

"Me and [my producer] Carson write a lot together," notes Corbin. "Ideas [for songs] come a lot of different
ways. They might come just from a saying I've heard or a melody I thought of or maybe I don't have anything coming into the session. Maybe one of those other
guys have an idea or its something you are talking about.

"A great example of that is 'Makes You Want to Drink,' a song I had written for the first record," he continues. "Me, Carson and Jimmy Yeary were sitting in a room, and we got to talking. I think it was Jimmy who said, 'Man, that will make you want to drink!' I said, 'That's the song we've got to write!' It's hard to do a country record without
some kind of drinking song on it."

In our chat with Corbin, he also revealed that work has already started for album No. 3! Stay tuned to Roughstock for more of our exclusive interview with Easton Corbin.
