Single Review: Luke Bryan - "Crash My Party"

Crowned the ACM Entertainer of the Year for 2013, Luke Bryan was humbled by the honor. Does the charming singer's ability to connect with audiences continue on his new single "Crash My Party," the lead-single from his upcoming album due out in stores this summer? Read on here to find out.

A man at the top of his game -- crowned ACM Entertainer of the Year  -- the day "Crash My Party" was released to country radio and digital retailers, Luke Bryan certainly would be forgiven if he took time to smell the roses but he doesn't do that with new the new single. Instead he keeps delivering the kind of song that's helped make him the superstar he rightfully is. Catchy arena-ready choruses, earnest verses and a melody that pulls from other genres (a little Coldplay here, a little The Scirpt there).

"Crash My Party" -- written by Rodney Clawson and Ashley Gorley -- is a charming song about a guy who's so infatuated with the girl he just met. It's not a big story and it does recall "See About A Girl," a song on Lee Brice's Hard 2 Love CD (albeit one w/a different melody and sound). This one's very atmospheric with the pianos and percussive high hat symbols and drum machine beats that give "Crash My Party" a feel of being a mid-tempo ballad masked in up-tempo melodies.

Luke Bryan sings the heck out of the song and it's certainly going to please the fans that have grown to love everything about the charming singer. His personality comes through here and that's more than enough to suggest a likable single from a likable artist which means it's a big ole hit (even if there's not a hint of steel guitar or other traditionalist sound that he started out with on his first two records).
