Childhood Dream Comes True for Thomas Rhett

Georgia-born and raised singer/songwriter Thomas Rhett can check one of the boxes in his list of career milestones and dreams. The young singer of "Beer With Jesus" got to play University of Georgia's Sanford Stadium. Read on to hear what it means for the singer to play the iconic Georgia venue.

Over the weekend (Saturday, April 13), Jason Aldean became the first ever artist -- not just Country artist -- to headline a concert at the University of Georgia's Sanford Stadium. Not only was it a memorable night for Aldean, who is on his "Night Train Tour," but also for the show's opening acts, including fellow Georgian, Thomas Rhett.

The "Something to Do With My Hands" and "Beer With Jesus" singer took the stage and performed for over 66,000 screaming fans during the sold-out show. At the ripe age of 23, it was a night the singer-songwriter won't soon be forgetting about.

“To come back and play on this field where I grew up cheering on the Bulldogs was a dream come true," beams Thomas Rhett. "And I got to return the favor and sing with some of the UGA football guys. I think we should both probably stick to our current career paths!".

In addition to performing his own hits to the packed crowd, including never before heard tunes that will be found on his forthcoming debut album, Thomas Rhett also got to hear one of his other songs on the rise when Aldean sang "1994," which Thomas Rhett co-wrote with Luke Laird and Barry Dean. This week, the tune continues to climb up the Country singles chart and is within the Top 20.

Thomas Rhett will soon have yet another one of his songs being played on country radio with the release of Lee Brice's next single, "Parking Lot Party." Thomas Rhett co-wrote the song with his pops -- Rhett Akins -- as well as Luke Laird and Brice. Thomas Rhett's sexy new single, “It Goes Like This,” is set to impact radio May 6.
