Country Album Chart News For April 24, 2013: Blake Shelton On Top, The Band Perry, Brad Paisley Follow; Four New Albums Debut

With not one major album release this week, Casey Donahew, Granger Smith and Willie Nelson's new records made the week a very Texas-Centric affair with each debuting somewhere in Country's Top 20. Blake Shelton squeaks out the #1 slot once again with Based On A True Story....

Four weeks into its chart run, Blake Shelton has taken back the top spot with Based On A True Story... as last two week’s #1 albums from The Band Perry and Brad Paisley were surpassed by “The Voice” superstar.

Based On A True Story... once again is America’s best-selling country album as all this week’s new releases weren’t strong enough of sellers (no mainstream hits) to get to the top of the chart, although they’re all Top 20. Blake Shelton’s now sold over 385,000 copies of the album in just one month on the charts. The Band Perry’s three week old Pioneer sits at #2 this week (it was #4 last week) and has sold 222,000 copies to date. Last week’s #1, Brad PAisley’s Wheelhouse has sold 135,000 copies in two weeks to be this week’s #3 album. Florida Georgia Line’s GOLD-selling album Here’s To The Good Times is next with sales at 536,000 and going strong. Eric Church’s Caught In The Act, a live album, sits at #5 this week with sales of 22,000 bringing the live album to over 83,000 in just two weeks on the charts.

Texas Music Band Casey Donahew Band Scores Top 10 debut with “Standoff.”

Luke Bryan’s first of two albums released in 2013, Spring Break...Here To Party sits at #6 with sales of 354,000 sold in seven weeks. Texas Music stars Casey Donahew Band moved 13,000 copies of Standoff to sit at #7 while Taylor Swft’s 3.6 million seller, RED sits at #8. #9 holds Jason Aldean’s 1.25 million selling album Night Train while #10 holds Eric Church’s Chief, an album that has moved 1.5 million copies.

Steve Earle, Granger Smith and Willie Nelson debut with new albums; Carrie Underwood and Kacey Musgraves Other Notables.

There may not have been any albums that were able to snag the #1 sales slot from top mainstream radio stars this week but veteran artist Steve Earl (& The Dukes) had the 12th best-selling country album this week with Low Highway while Up and Coming Texas Music artist Granger Smith scores a big debut at #15 with Dirt Road Driveway. Finally, Willie Nelson’s Lets Face The Music And Dance debuts at #16. The latter two albums sold 10,000 copies each in their first week on this chart. Finally, CArrie Underwood’s 1.4 million selling album Blown Away and Kacey Musgraves 102,000 selling album Same Trailer Different Park round out this week’s notable album releases.

Tate Stevens will debut somewhere on this chart next week along with Lori McKenna.
