Dancing With The Stars Recap: Kellie Pickler Wins Immunity

Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough dazzled the judges and viewers yet again on last night's episode of ABC's Dancing With The Stars. Read on here to learn how they fared with the judges and how they gained immunity, the first dancing pair to do so this cycle.

Kellie Pickler dazzled the judges and viewers yet again on last night's episode of ABC's Dancing With The Stars.  On "Latin Night," each of the seven remaining couples performed solo Latin routine, followed by a dance-off round in which each couple went toe-to-toe with a competitor performing the same dance style.

Kellie Pickler and her partner Derek Hough performed a samba for the solo round. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba said that Pickler's movements were "perfection," but said "I don't feel you when you dance."  Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli each strongly disagreed with Inaba's latter observation, and each awarded Pickler a perfect ten while Inaba gave her a nine, bringing her a total score of 29 out of 30.

For the first time ever, the judges awarded immunity from elimination to the highest scoring couple in the solo round.  Kellie Pickler and gymnast Aly Raisman tied for the top solo score, each with 29 judges' points.  The immunity was awarded to the celebrity with the higher cumulative season total of judges' points, which was Pickler.  This means that Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough cannot be eliminated in tonight's results show, and in addition to having won immunity, Pickler was not required to take part in the dance-off round.

Kellie Pickler is guaranteed to dance again next Monday night, but tune into tonight's results show at 9:00 p.m. Eastern/ 8:00 Central to see which of her six fellow competitors is sent home.  Pickler's immunity is effective this week only, so be sure to tune into Monday's performance show at 8:00 p.m. Eastern/ 7:00 Central to support Kellie with your votes.
