Greg Bates "So Ready" To Deliver Debut Album To Fans

With "Did It For The Girl" becoming a Top 25 hit, charming newcomer Greg Bates is set to charm us even more with new single "Fill In The Blank." In this Exclusive story, Greg tells us about how excited he is to get his collection of Neo-Traditional Country Music in stores for fans.

Who is the most excited for the release of Greg Bates' debut album? None other than the man himself. Bates has already delivered two tunes from the highly-anticipated project, including his debut single "Did It for the Girl" and his new hit on the rise, "Fill in the Blank." But the first two singles are just a taste of what is yet to come from the charming 25 year old singer-songwriter.

"I had a blast making the record," Bates tells Roughstock of the time put into the project. "It was done pretty much when I signed my deal. We walked in the door with a finished product, so I kind of had a different story than most new artists do. Most of the time, they will cut a whole new record in the first year of having a deal. For me, I really wanted to focus on the record prior to that because I knew when I signed my deal, I wouldn’t have time to focus on the record [laughs]."

Bates worked closely with producer Jimmy Ritchey on the album and hired session players who have laid down the music track for the likes of Alan Jackson, Randy Travis and George Strait, aiming to hone in on making a true country music sound.

"I really wanted to focus on making a record that had more of a traditional feel to it," notes Bates. "With the market now, there’s definitely a more rock-pop influence in country than there really ever has been, so it was fun for me to go in and have these guys and say play country … just do what you do! Let’s have some fun with it. We weren’t afraid to put a steel guitar solo on the record. I am so proud of the final product. I am so ready for everybody to hear the finished product."

This week, "Fill in the Blank" continues to climb the charts. Look for a new video for the tune to impact the television music networks in the coming weeks.
