Single Review: Pistol Annies - "Hush Hush"

The Annies are back! The Annies are BACK! With as much charm, wit and attitude as ever, Miranda, Ashley and Angeleena return with a song that could become the trio's first true Top 40 Country Radio hit. Read on here to see what we think of the single!

When Miranda Lambert joined with best friends Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley to form the Pistol Annies at the height of her career, most people figured it'd be a one-off digital side project for Miranda, a pit-stop vanity project between releases but it yielded more than that to make the band more than just a one-off. The Hell On Heels album spawned the Gold-selling title track while the album itself is nearly Gold as well. With that type of success, it isn't a surprise to see Pistol Annies return with Annie Up in May. The album features "Hush Hush" as the lead single and what a lead single it is.

Anyone who has a large family will most certainly relate to "Hush Hush," the kind of firebrand, personality-fueled song that has become a staple of both Miranda and Ashley Monroe's solo work (ashley released her own album in early March). The lyrics are funny without the song falling to ditty status. They feel honest and real as well. And they're backed-up by a strong playful -- and C-O-U-N-T-R-Y -- melody.

Hopefully radio stations will make room for "Hush Hush" in addition to their standard 'Ran fare and give fans a true taste of real life and Real Country to listen to in between the modern Country/Pop and Alt/Rock styled Country songs.

Take a listen to "HUSH HUSH" here!
