Country Album Chart News For March 27, 2013: Kacey Musgraves Debuts at #1

With sales of 44,000 units sold, Kacey Musgraves joines eliete company this week with Same Trailer Different Park debuting at #1 on the Roughstock/SoundScan Country Album Sales Chart. Read on here to find out more about the Top 10 and five notable album releases!

Kacey Musgraves Debuts at #1 on Country Albums Chart, the first female to do so with first album since Carrie Underwood in 2005.

With nearly 44,000 copies of Same Trailer Different Park sold, Kacey Musgraves became the first new female artist to top the SoundScan Top Country Albums chart since Carrie Underwood in 2005. Musgraves also scored a #2 debut with her album. Spring Break...Here To Party slides downt to #2 this week but Luke Bryan was able to notch two weeks at #1 with his ‘spring break’ party album, a record which has sold nearly 250,000 in just 3 weeks on the charts. Florida Georgia Line’s Here’s To The Good Times is next with sales now at 433,000 sold. The record should be certified Gold any day now for album shipments/sales of over 500,000. Taylor Swift’s Red sits at #4with sales now at 3.546 million while Little Big Towns Tornado is nearing 800,000 in sales.

Night Train Keeps On Rolling For Aldean; McGraw’s Freedom Rolling Down The Highway

In the second half of the Top 10, Jason Aldean leads the way with another 11,000 fans taking home his Night Train album, a similar number also take home Tim McGraw’s Two Lanes Of Freedom. Eric Church’s Chief remains Top 10 with nearly 1.5 million copies sold while he’s set to release a live record in a few weeks.  Hunter Hayes’ self-titled Gold-selling debut is 4,000 copies sold away from 700k while #9 seller while Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” has now sold nearly 1.4 million.

Luke Bryan’s Tailgates & Tanlines is #10 with sales now over the 1.9 million sold mark, a number which suggests that he’ll soon get his first Double Platinum award for album sales. Gary Allan’s Set You Free is our second of the five notable albums outside the Top 10 this week with sales now at 244,000 sold for the album. The Mavericks’ comeback In Time continues to sell strongly for an album without any radio hits while Texas-based artist Kyle Park debuts with nearly 3,000 copies sold of his latest Beggin’ For More. It’s his first release released through Thirty Tigers. Finally, we take a look at Jake Owen’s Barefoot Blue Jean Night, a record which has sold nearly 404,000 copies and will likely eventually become his first Gold-selling album. Current single “Anywhere With You” is now rising the charts.

Next week is the biggest single release week of the 2013 year with Blake Shelton’s Based On A True Story, Alan Jackson's Precious Memories, Thompson Square's Just Feels Good and Maggie Rose's Cut To Impress set to debut on the charts.
