Single Review: Jaida Dreyer "Half Broke Horses"

Jaida Dreyer announced her arrival as the debut artist on StreamSound Records via "Guy's Girl" and "Confessions" last year. Now the Canada native ready to break out in a big way "Half Broke Horses." Read our review and listen to the new single - exclusively - here!

A pensive ballad with a decidedly traditional feel (fiddle and steel guitar and acoustic guitars lead the instrumental track), "Half Broke Horses" is a story that plays on the wild horses theme that's often been used as an allegory for people who can't be tamed. In the story of this song, it tells an introspective tale of a girl who witnesses her father leaving while a child only to see the same thing happen to her when she's older with her own daughter's father.

It's a story that is often repeated by many women because there's always the sense that a man (or anyone really) can change their ways, be it as a man 'born to run' like in this song or a man prone to cheating or other devices (like alcohol or drugs or gambling). Truisms are often mined for gold in country music and this is exactly what happens with Jaida Dreyer's beautiful ballad. Here's hoping there's room for such a stunning song in Country Radio's amped-up radio playlists (because there SHOULD be).
