With the highly anticipated release of his brand new single, “Pirate Flag,” Kenny Chesney is giving his fans one more bit of good news this morning with the announcement of his forthcoming album, Life on a Rock, hitting stores on April 30.

The new collection of tunes will feature eight tracks out of 10 of which Chesney took a part in writing. Chesney produced the project, along with the help of his longtime collaborator and friend, Buddy Cannon.

“Just living here on this planet, we’re all living life on a rock; but for me, and for this record, it’s about the way life is when you live on an island,” notes Chesney when speaking of the album and its title. “Everywhere you go, there’s everyone you know; you know everything about them, and they know everything about you … and well, that’s just a whole other way to be. Coming from Luttrell, Tennessee, I can tell you, ‘life on a rock’ isn’t all that different from life in a real small town. It’s slower, it’s easier, it’s more invested and it’s also more about really enjoying the moments as they are, when they are.”

For weeks, Chesney’s fans have been waiting on the edge of their seats to hear new music from the superstar, and at the stroke of midnight Friday morning (February 1), the new anthem was heard coast-to-coast with his own No Shoes Radio having first hour exclusiveness at 11PM 1/31/13. Penned by David Lee Murphy and Ross Copperman, the tune is a sure fire hit for Chesney. Next up for Chesney is the kick off of his new headlining No Shoes Nation Tour. The trek is launching on March 16 at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium.
