Country Album Chart News For February 13, 2013: Tim McGraw Scores #1 Debut with "Two Lanes Of Freedom

Tim McGraw Debuts at #1 with Two Lanes Of Freedom. Grammy Awards Help Album Sales This Week, Likely Next Week Too.

The only thing keeping Tim McGraw from a #1 album this week on the SoundScan Top 200 Albums Chart was a pesky romantic album from Josh Groban. Still, Tim’s #2 debut with Two Lanes Of Freedom still moved over 107,000 copies its first week, out-pacing his last album - last year’s Emotional Traffic - by 39,000 copies. Sitting at #2 this week is Taylor Swift’s Triple Platinum Red while the past two week #1 album, Gary Allan’s Set You Free falls to #3 with sales totals of 165,000. The fourth best-selling album this week is Florida Georgia Line’s Here’s To The Good Times. The Republic Nashville duo has sold 295,000 copies of the album. Sitting at #5 is Hunter Hayes with his Grammy-nominated self-titled record surpassing the 600,000 sales mark.

Little Big Town, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Carrie Underwood Place ACM Nominee Albums Inside Top 10 This Week

With Tornado, Little Big Town’s winning ways continue as the Capitol Nashville quartet surpassed the 700,000 sale mark this week. Jason Aldean’s Night Train is next with 1.12 million sold while Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away sits with 1.3 million sold. Luke Bryan’s Tailgates & Tanlines has now moved 1.8 milluion while Eric Church’s Chief rounds out the Top 10 this week with sales totals now at nearly 1.4 million strong!

Zac Brown Band Wins Country Album of the Year Grammy, Leads Notables Albums This Week

Zac Brown Band won the Grammy Award for “Best Country Album” this past Sunday but were surprisingly shut out of the ACM Category this AM. Uncaged has sold over 770k albums thus far while Randy Houser’s How Country Feels has now moved 42k in three weeks on the charts. Richard Thompson debuts with Electric in the notable section this week with 7,000 fans bringing the legendary Americana/Folk artist’s latest record home while Miranda Lambert’s Four The Record sits at 727k sold. Rounding out this week’s rundown is Holly Williams with The Highway, her third album and first self-released record debuts with 4,000 fans taking home a copy of the album. Holly is Hank Williams’s Granddaughter. Hank Jr is her father.
