Single Review: Florida Georgia Line - "Get Your Shine On"

The hardest thing for a band to do after releasing a 'career' single is to follow-it up. That's even harder when that band is only on their second single. "Get Your Shine On" is Florida Georgia Line's follow-up to #1 (Soon to be) multi-platinum single "Cruise." Read our thoughts and listen to "Shine" here!

While not as immediately ear-worm-y (yes, a made-up word) as "Cruise," "Get Your Shine On" does have a tendency to get in your head and stick there, just like it's predecessor. Joey Moi's thick muscular production adds a layer of rock/country sheen that could be too much for some but in the context of what Tyler and B.K. are doing with their music, it makes total sense and fits.

The lyrics of "Get Your Shine On" discuss various ways in which "Shine" is used,  be it the metaphor for a smile, sunshine, silver buckles, Shinedown, truck chrome, moonshine, or whatever other thing you can think of that would be shiny, is used here and while that may make the tune a dreaded - for some - list song, it works. The song's melody has a rock/country aesthetic with some electronic programming/keyboards accentuating the percussive party vibe of the song (even if it's also a youthful love song too).

Florida Georgia Line may not win over anyone looking for a 'serious song' or Traditional Country sounds but for fans who loved "Cruise," they may find something to like here and there's no doubt that country radio will continue to spin Florida Georgia Line songs as they've seemingly become instant superstars.
