Country Album Chart News For January 9, 2013: Taylor Swift Still #1; Carrie Underwood #2, Justin Moore's albums Gold

Christmas sales are behind us and because of that, the album sales numbers have tumbled compared to the past few weeks. Read on to see who follows Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood on this week's Top 10 Country Album Sales report!

Album sales continue to slide in the post-Christmas sales period, as is the standard. Taylor Swift’s Red loses 72% of sales from previous week and slides to #3 on the SoundScan Top 200 Albums chart behind the “Les Miserables” soundtrack and Mumford & Sons “Babel”

Taylor swift’s “Red” continues to lead the Country Albums rundown with another 69,000 copies being sold, bringing her sales total to nearly 3.2 million. Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” slids up from #4-#2 this week barely outselling Florida Georgia Line’s “Here’s To The Good Times” by roughly 1,000 copies. “Blown Away” has moved 1.2 million while “...Good Times” has sold 202,000 copies. Jason Aldean slides from #2-#4 with “Night Train” now over 1.04 million. Luke Bryan “Tailgates & Tanlines” rounds out the Top 5 with nearly 1.8 million copies sold.

Little Big Town “Tornado”, “Nashville” Soundtrack in Top 10.

The soundtrack from ABC TV’s “Nashville” leads the second half of the SoundScan Top 10 Country Music Album charts. Little Big Town’s “Tornado” has sold 624,000 copies since being released while Eric Church’s “Chief” - which will release “Like Jesus Does” as the fifth single to radio soon - sits at #8. The #9 best-selling album this week is Hunter Hayes’ self-titled album with sales over 531,000 copies now. Rounding out the Top 10 is Zac Brown Band’s “Uncaged.”

Chesney’s “Welcome To The Fishbowl” Leads Notable Albums

Kenny Chesney’s “Welcome To The Fishbowl” has now surpassed the 600,000 sales mark while Lady Antebellum’s “Own The Night” is nearing the 1.8 million sold mark. Lee Brice’s “Hard 2 Love” has sold 308,000 copies (and likely will eventually land a Gold certification in 2013) while Justin Moore’s “Outlaws Like Me” is now Gold (as is his self-titled debut for The Valory Music Company). Jamey Johnson’s cricially-acclaimed “Livin’ For A Song” has moved 86,000 copies.

Next week’s a quiet sales week yet again but as always we’ll keep you up to date with this chart report as normal.
