Country Album Chart News For January 23, 2013: Taylor Swift Still #1; Katie Armiger Debuts at #7

For the first time in her career, Katie Armiger lands on our rundown and into the Top 10 of the Country Albums Chart with her fourth album Fall Into Me. Katie also arrives on the Top 40 of the Top 200 Albums for the all-genre chart for the first time. Read on to see the complete Top 10 and 5 more here!

Taylor Swift remains at #1 for another week with her just-certified 4x Platinum album Red. She’s the only artist since the Beatles to have three albums hold the #1 slot for six or more weeks. Katie Armiger Debuts in Top 10 with Fall Into Me.

Taylor Swift’s “Red” has moved 41,000 more copies bringing scanned-sales totals for Red to 3.26 million. The album is the best-selling digital album of all-time with nearly 1,000,000 fans buying the CD via iTunes or other stores. Florida Georgia Line’s #2 this week with “Here’s To The Good Times,” their debut for Republic Nashville. The BMLG has the Top 3 with The Music of Nashville soundtrack for ABC TV’s “Nashville” sitting at #3 with sales totalling 171k thus far. Little Big Town’s “Tornado” is #4 with sales over 650k while Jason Aldean’s latest, “Night Train,” has moved nearly 1.1 million copies.

Katie Armiger Debuts at #7 With “Fall Into Me”

Hunter Hayes leads the #6-#10 section of this rundown with his self-titled Atlantic Nashville debut now nearing 560k sold. Fellow 21 Year Old artist Katie Armiger, signed to Cold River Records, debuts with “Fall Into Me” at #7 on the Country Albums Chart this week with a #32 all-genre debut, the first time she’s appeared on the SoundScan Hot 200 Albums Chart. She was also #7 on the Independent Albums Sales Chart. Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” has sold 1.25 million while Luke Bryan’s “Tailgates & Tanlines” has moved over 1.8 million to date. Rounding out the Top 10 is Zac Brown Band’s “Uncaged” has now moved ¾ a million albums.

Notable Albums include “Four The Record” and “Changed”

Miranda Lambert’s “Four The Record has sold over 711k albums while Rascal Flatts “Changed” is rising up the charts thanks to the title track’s presence on the radio charts and I have no doubts that The Flatts will surpass the Gold scanned mark in the near future as they’re at 465k sold right now. Kenny Chesney’s “Welcome To The Fishbowl” has moved 608k since being released last year and all signs are pointing to the album being replaced by an upcoming album later this spring. Kip Moore has moved 284,000 copies of “Up All Night” while newcomer Dustin Lynch’s self-titled record has now sold 110k since being released and if he continues to score hits from the album look for the CD to continue to move copies.

Next week will see the arrival of Randy Houser’s third album “How Country Feels” and the release of Gary Allan’s “Set You Free,” both albums which feature Top 5 hits that could be #1 hits by the week of release. Both could surpass Taylor Swift in sales for the week but look for Gary Allan to have the better chance at doing so with his record as he’s a more ‘bankable’ name thus far in his career.
