Album Review: Amber Hayes - "Any Day Is A Good Day"

With the release of this EP, the talented Oklahoma-native Amber Hayes returns with a collection of songs that should be able to rival any top-label star's albums. But is that enough to make the EP worth buying? Read on to see what we think about it here!

"I Built This Wall" recalls Chely Wright's country tunes and features a strong tie to late 1990s country sounds without feeling 'old,' while "Suspicious from Paul Kennerly, Adam Wright and Shannon Wright is downright fun and has some strong interesting couplets like "Well I found a pink package from down at the lingerie store, yeah baby but if you know me, I haven't fit that size since '03, that's suspicious baby." It's a great song and when tied with the inspirational title track "Any Day Is A Good Day," there's enough reason between these two songs to buy this EP.

Then you add in the jovial "Me And Loretta" and you've got a well-written, strongly-produced EP with downright great vocals. Why major labels aren't working with Amber Hayes is beyond me. She's on par with any of the up and coming female artists on those rosters, both as a singer and as a stunningly beautiful woman, and already has released two EPs worth of strong material.
