Country Chart News - The Top 30 Digital Singles: The Week of December 12, 2012: Florida Georgia Line Dominance; Cassadee Pope Returns

This week is clearly Republic Nashville's week as Florida Georgia Line scores an impressive 8 songs on the Digital Singles chart this week with 3 of those 8 landing inside the Roughstock Top 30 Chart Powered By SoundScan. Cassadee Pope debuts with a second country single as well. Read on to see more!

Florida Georgia Line Dominates Singles Sales Chart with Tracks from “Here’s To The Good Times,” their debut album for Republic Records Nashville.

With sales of their album leading “Here’s To The Good Times” onto the Album chart, Florida Georgia Line falls-in-line with major country stars, a remarkable achievement given they started the year w/o a record deal, and scores three singles in this Top 30 rundown from the record, including “Cruise” at #1 again (it’s also the radio airplay #1) and with “Here’s To The Good Times” also inside the Top 10 at #9. The Band Perry’s “Better Dig Two” sits at #2 with sales now at 340k while Gary Allan’s “Every Storm Runs Out Of Rain)” sits at #3. The song, from the upcoming “Sets You Free” album, has now sold 363k. 3x Grammy Nominee Hunter Hayes’ #1 hit “Wanted” is a week or two away from Double Platinum while Cassadee Pope’s second country cover, “Stand” (originally a Rascal Flatts song) scores an impressive 40,000 singles sold to debut at #5.

Hunter Hayes “Somebody’s Heartbreak” Is A Top 11 Digital Single.

Taylor Swift is less than 300k away from Triple Platinum for her divisive hit “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” a song up for Grammy Record of the Year (best hit of the year). Carrie Underwood’s recent #1 hit “Blown Away” has now nearly sold 1.5 million copies and leads the #6-#10 part of our rundown. She’s followed by Jason Aldean’s “The Only Way I Know,” a single which features Eric Church and Luke Bryan. Little Big Town’s “Tornado” is right behind them and with 22,000 sold, the previously mentioned Florida Georgia Line track is at #9. Hunter Hayes’ “Somebody’s Heartbreak” is #11 for the first time as the third single from the Grammy Nominated “Hunter Hayes” album has now sold 170k on its march to at least Gold.

Blake Shelton’s “Home” Is The Riser of the Week.

With a sales increase of 10k thanks to the seasonal special last week on NBC, Blake Shelton’s cover of the Michael Buble-penned hit jumps 32 slots from 49 to #17 this week, making the tune our riser of the week. Cassadee Pope’s stunning take of her mentor Shelton’s “Over You” has now surpassed the 200,000 sales mark in 3 weeks, not bad for an unsigned artist (who will soon be signed by a Nashville label, we think). She’s a crossover star waiting to happen and look for her to debut with “Stupid Boy” next week on this chart. Other new singles on the chart this week incude two songs from the Nashville TV show, one from Sam Palladio and Clare Bowen and one from Hayden Panettiere.

Brenda Lee’s seminal yuletide favorite “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” leads the Cristmas singles with 15,000 sold bringing the sales totol over 760k while Florida Georgia Line scores 4 new singles on the Top 100 Country Singles chart from their album “Here’s To The Good Times,” “Stay” at 38, “Dayum Baby” at 46, “Hell Raisin’ Heat Of The Summer” at #59 and “Party People” at #70. The previously available track “Get Your Shine On,” their next single, sits at #52 and has sold 89,000 copies to date. Old Crow Medicine Show’s “Wagon Wheel” is only 15,000 singles away from Platinum while Eli Young Band’s “Even If It Break’s Your Heart” is less than 7,000 away.
