Country Album Chart News For December 27, 2012: Taylor Swift #1; Cassadee Pope Debuts; Christmas Album Sales

Christmas has been good to nearly every mainstream Country Music artist with an album in stores this week as the numbers have been released. Read on to see where your favorite Country stars (like Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean, and Hunter Hayes) fared on the Album chart this week!

Taylor Swift moves nearly 280,000 of her multi-genre hit “Red.” Christmas Gift Sales Spur Massive Sales Gain for Almost All Albums.

The fourth quarter (or the Christmas Gift shopping season) always inspires fans to buy music en masse and that’s precisely what happens this week with the albums in our rundown, starting with country/pop (or pop/country) star Taylor Swift’s RED album. The record features The Top 10 “Begin Again” and pop chart hits “I Knew You Were Trouble” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” The #2 album on this week’s rundown is Lady Antebellum’s “On This Winter’s Night.” The best-selling Country Music-related Christmas album for 2013, the record also features a Top 40 hit with “Holly Jolly Christmas.” Little Big Town has the #3 album this week thanks to a 47% sales increase this week, the highest of the Top 5. “Tornado” has now moved 575,000 copies since being released in early September. Blake Shleton’s “Cheers, It’s Christmas.” moves another 72,000 to bring sales totals to 410,000, just 7k behind Lady A’s 2012 Christmas Album. Rounding out the Top 5 this week is Jason Aldean’s “Night Train.” The album has now sold nearly 1,000,000 copies with a sales increase of 42% over last week.

Carrie Underwood “Blown Away” Sells 60,000 This Week

With nearly 60,000 albums sold, Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” album now sits at 1.17 Million copies sold since its release this past spring. The record’s sales are up 42% this week. Luke Bryan’s “tailgates & tanlines” is up 46% with sales now at nearly 1.73 million copies sold. Florida Georgia Line has sold 150,000 copies of “Here’s To The Good Times” in 3 weeks on these charts while “Christmas With Soctty McCreery” has moved 337,000, slowing down considerably since being released (but still gaining sales over last week at just 1%). The “Nashville Original Soundtrack Volume 1” has sold nearly 100,000 copies in two weeks on the charts and is basically the only Country-related album to showcase a negative sales mark for the week.

Hunter Hayes, Eric Church, Zac Brown Band, Justin Moore Lead Notable Albums This Week.

Hunter Hayes retains his #11 slot on the Roughstock Top Country Albums Chart Rundown this week (we only show the Top 10 places usually). He’s now scanned 487,000 copies of his self-titled album and is all but assured of surpassing the 500,000 sales mark next week for the already RIAA Certified Gold album. Eric Church’s “Chief” has now sold 1.28 Million copies while Zac Brown Band is about to surpass the 700,000 mark with “Uncaged,” the band’s third album (it features “Goodbye In Her Eyes” and future hits “Jump Right In” and “Uncaged”). Justin Moore’s first Gold-certified album “Outlaws Like Me” has surpassed that sales mark with scanned sales over 505,000. This week, the album’s latest single “Til My Last Day” is the #1 single in the USA, making it the year’s final #1 hit. Dustin Lynch’s self-titled debut record for Broken Bow Records has hit the 100,000 sales mark with new single “She Cranks My Tractor” looking to follow “Cowboys And Angels” as a hit on the radio airplay charts.
