Country Album Chart News For November 14 2012: Taylor Swift "RED" Still Dominates

Taylor Swift once again leads our rundown of albums with her nearly 200k-selling (this week), nearly double platinum (over all in 3 weeks) Red. Right behind her is Jason Aldean with the 600k-selling (in a month) Night Train. Read on to see the Christmas dominated Top 10 here!

Christmas is on its way with an onslaught of Christmas-themed albums climbing the charts this week while Taylor Swift’s RED and Jason Aldean’s Night Train stay #1 & #2 this week. 10 of the Top 25 abums on the Top 200 Albums chart are Country Music albums.

With another 200k sold, Taylor Swift’s RED leads the way for a third week on all genre charts. Jason Aldean’s Night Train sits in #2 on The Top 10 Country Albums from SoundScan this week with nearly another 50,000 albums in hand. Lady Antebellum’s On This Winter’s Night jumps into the Top 5 of the rundown this week while Little Big Town holds steady at #4 with Tornado. Blake Shelton’s Cheers, It’s Christmas. jumps to #5 this week with 24,000 fans taking a copy of the yuletide disc home.

“Christmas With Scotty McCreery” leads #6-#10 on this week’s Top Country Albums Chart.

Scotty McCreery also saw a sales boost this week with Christmas With Scotty, an album which is the #1 selling Country Christmas record thus far into the 2012 Holiday Season. Toby Keith’s two-week old Hope On The Rocks slides down from #3 to #7 this week. The album’s new single is the fantastic title track. Luke Bryan’s Tailgates and Tanlines is next while Eric Church’s CMA Album of the Year Chief sits at #9. Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away has nearly scanned Platinum (it’s already certified) and rounds out the SoundScan Top 10 Country Albums this week.

Hunter Hayes’s self-titled debut leads notable albums

With 11,000 more albums sold, Hunter Hayes has sold nearly 350,000 albums, giving him an outside shot at Gold before the year is up if enough of his fans ask for the whole album for Christmas. The record is one of Roughstock’s favorites from the past two years. Brantley Gilbert has now sold over 750,000 copies of his national debut “Halfway To Heaven” while Zac Brown Band’s Uncaged has sold nearly 600,000. Kenny Chesney’s Welcome To The Fishbowl has officially scanned Gold while the A Very Special Christmas 25th anniversary edition rounds out our rundown this week. look for this Special Olympics charitable recording to continue to sell well as 2012 turns into 2013. Country artists on the record include Martina McBride, Rascal Flatts, Vince Goll and Jewel. Popstars on the record include Train, Jordin Sparks (who will likely make a country record at some point), Michael Buble, Cheap Trick and KPop stars Wonder Girls (among others).

This week’s big release is Aaron Lewis’ full-length debut The Road. Look for it to debut high up on next week’s chart.
