Taylor Swift and Jason Aldean both land #1 and #2 on the SoundScan Top 10 Country Albums chart rundown this week but are joined in the Top 10 by three Christmas albums from Lady Antebellum, Blake Shelton and Scotty McCreery. McCreery has sold the most of his Christmas album “Christmas With Scotty McCreery” thus far with 118k while Lady Antebellum’s “On This Winter’s Night” has moved 107k. Blake Shelton’s “Cheers, It’s Christmas.” has moved 97k to date. Expect all three of these albums to be big sellers for the next month as Christmas’ shopping season begins in earnest On Thanksgiving thanks to major sales at all music stores not named iTunes. Note, Swift's "Red" no longer is the #1 CD in the USA as UK Boyband debuts with their sophomore album selling nearly 600,000 copies last week, another remarkable week for a band which has sold 1.2 million copies of their debut this year as well.

Aaron Lewis debuts with “The Road” inside Country Music’s Top 10 Albums Chart this week.

One of the last major albums released in country music this year (Florida Georgia Line’s “Here’s To The Good Times” and the Nashville Soundtrack are the remaining big releases due in early December) hits the charts this week, right behind Little Big Town’s “Tornado.” Aaron Lewis’ first full-length solo recording sold a solid 21,000 copies this week and should continue to sell well for the Staind frontman this holiday season. The rest of this week’s Top 10 will sell well too as they are albums from Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Eric Church, respectively.  All 3 sold over 14,000 copies this week and have Platinum-certified records.

Hunter Hayes’s self-titled debut leads notable albums

Toby Keith’s recent release has sold a respectable 14,000 copies this past week while Hunter Hayes’ self-titled album continues its march towards Gold and with news that he’s likely to release a couple more singles off of the record before moving on to album #2, there’s a chance (a likely chance) that this year-old record ends up Platinum before he moves on, much like what The Band Perry did with their self-titled debut that yielded five hit singles. Zac Brown Band’s “Uncaged” has surpassed the 600,000 sales mark this week while Kenny Chesney’s “Welcome To The Fishbowl” has moved a respectable 648,000 records. Rember folks, country music celebrates Gold as much as they celebrate Platinum, unlike rock/pop (at least according to the nearly 20 year old “Gone Country” from Alan Jackson). Lee Brice’s “Hard To Love” album has proved to be his star-making breakout taking him from promising one hit wonder to radio star with a deft gift for melody, verse and strong interprative and emotive vocals. No wonder, then, that the album has sold over a quarter of a million albums so far into its life-cycle and had the two lead singles hit Gold and/or Platinum. Rounding out our rundown is the debut of The Departed’s “Adventus.” The self-relesed record sold over 4,000 copies for the band which features m Cody Canada and Jeremy Plato from the defunct Cross Canadian Ragweed and Seth James.

There are no new releases this week but with Black Friday and the shopping season here, look for many albums to land high up on next week’s chart. As always return here to get your chart news fix. Happy Thanksgiving y’all (in the USA) and “Happy Wednesday” for the rest of the world!
