Country Chart News - The Top 30 Digital Singles: The Week of October 17, 2012: Taylor's DubStep Song Absent; "Truck Yeah" Gold

The big news this week is that the top-selling single from Taylor Swift, "I Knew You Were Trouble" isn't being counted as a country single, the first time any of her singles has ever been catagorized outside of country (even if previous songs weren't). Read about that and the Top 30 here!

Taylor Swift dominates Top 5, Carrie Underwood Platinum, Luke Bryan Double Platinum with hit singles.

Last week we speculated that the new digital single from “Red,” Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble” would land at #1 at this rundown. Except the funny thing happened on the way to the forum, the song isn’t eligible for the Top 30 Digital Country Songs chart because it is a ‘dubstep’ creation. Therefore, Taylor’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” returns to #1 after the #1 single last week, “Red” slides down to #2. Florida Georgia Line has the #3 single with “Cruise” gaining 6,000 singles over the previous week. Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away,” sits at #4 while Swift’s latest country radio single “Begin Again” sits at #5 after being #3 last week.

Hunter Hayes “Wanted” Leads Second Half of Top 10

With 50,000 tracks scanned, “Wanted” has now sold 1.562 million copies and sits at #6 again this week. Luke Bryan is up 10-7 with his fourth hit from Tailgates & Tanlines, “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye.” He’s now sold 333,000 copies of the track, with “Hard To Love” from Lee Brice up 12-8 this week (it gained 2,000 in sales too). Gary Allan’s “Every Storm (Runs Out Of Rain)” single slides to #9 from #7 while Jason Aldean’s recent chart-topper “Take A Little Ride” slides to #10, it has now sold 835,000.

Riser Of The Week: Zac Brown Band “Goodbye In Your Eyes”; Nashville singles debut

Just outside the Top 10 sits break-out single “If I Didn’t Know Better,” a song written by John Paul White of The Civil Wars and recorded by actors Sam Palladio and Clare Bowen for the new musical drama Nashville.  Tim McGraw’s Chris Janson, Danny Myrick and LoCash Cowboy’s penned “Truck Yeah” has officially hit the Gold singles sold mark this week for digital single sales of 500,000 copies (it will be certified by the RIAA soon). The song also hit the Top 10 of the airplay charts as well.  Zac Brown Band’s “Goodbye In Your Eyes” jumps from #43 to #27 this week to score our Riser of The Week while Kenny Chesney’s “El Cerrito Place” and Casey James’ “Cryin’ On Your Suitcase” also debut inside the Top 30 for the first time.

Hayden Panettiere debuts with “Love Like Mine” just outside of the Top 30 at #34 with 11,000 singles sold while Uncle Kracker debuts at #38 with “Nobody’s Sad On A Saturday Night” with sales of 10,000 singles. Brett Eldredge debuts at #45 with “Don’t Ya” moving nearly 8,000 singles while Nashville’s Charles Esten sold 5,000 copies of “Back Home to just outsell Texas Music’s Granger Smith’s debut single “We Do It In A Field.” They were #71 and #72, respectively.

We should also note that Florida Georgia Line’s “Get Your Shine On” from the EP It’z Just What We Do has gained 35 slots on the chart from 97 to 62 and has now sold 33,000 singles.
