Country Chart News: Top 30 Digital Singles: The Week of August 1, 2012

Once again Country music's most-successful male artist of the past few years, Jason Aldean, leads the Top 30 Digital Singles chart rundown this week with his latest single "Take A Little Ride." Read on to see how close he was to losing the slot to Little Big Town's summer hit.

Only 1,000 copies separated Jason Aldean and Little Big Town This week as “Take A Little Ride” and “Pontoon” both sold nearly 100,000 more single copies this week. This brings Aldean’s two week totla to 286,000 while Little Big Town is at 695k! Hunter Hayes was 26,000 behind Little Big Town but still had not only Country music’s #3 single on the Digital Singles chart but also the #16 song in all genres. Kenny Chesney’s #1 radio hit is also his latest Gold single and it has now moved 276k colies while Luke Bryan’s “Drunk Ou You” rounds out the top 5 singles and now has nearly 1.75 million copies sold and should easily surpass the 2 million mark sometime soon.

Love and Theft Sit at #6, Gloriana Returns To Top 8

Love and Theft’s break-out hit “Angel Eyes” now sits at 479k, enough to suggest that the RCA Nashville duo will land their first Gold certification next week. Eric Church’s “Springsteen” sits right behind the duo with another 42k fans buying the 1.55 million-seller while Gloriana is up to #8 from #10 last week with the 675k seller and Top 5 radio airplay hit “(Kissed You) Good Night. Tim McGraw’s “Truck Yeah” sits at #9 for the third week in a row with sales of 171K total. Dierks Bentley not only rounds out the Top 10 with “5-1-5-0,” but his single surpasses the Gold sales mark this week as well. look for an RIAA certification soon.

Riser of the Week: Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away”

Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” is up 4 slots this week as the single makes waves at country radio (it’s Top 30). She sold 10,000 more singles than last week and has now sold more than 299,000 copies of the track. Right behind Carrie is Lee Brice with the fast-rising hit “Hard To Love” now having sold 373k. Dustin Lynch, who is constantly one of the top searched for artists across MTV Network’s new artist platform right now, has the #14 single with “Cowboys and Angels” now nearly 400k large. Other notable singles include Republic’s Florida Georgia Line with “Cruise” now over 161,000 sold as it goes to radio officialy for the first week next week and JUST hit the Top 60 of Billboard’s airplay chart this week. Toby Keith debuts at #19 with 22k copies sold of his latest single, “I Like Girls Who Drink Beer.” It has a long way to go before it catches up to “Red Solo Cup” and last hit “Beers Ago.” Chris Young’s at #22 with “Neon,” a slow-burning but well-researching radio hit. He’s now sold 195,000 while Lady Antebellum is outside The Top 30 with “Wanted You More” but have moved nearly 200,000 copies of the single.
