Country Chart News: Top 30 Digital Singles: The Week of August 8, 2012

This week we rundown the Top 30 Digital Singles in America and while there are newsworthy events like Little Big Town taking over first place from Jason Aldean yet again, there is other news involving Miranda Lambert, Hunter Hayes and Carrie Underwood. Read on to get all the details here!

It’s the single that keeps on giving as Little Big Town’s Gold single surpassed the ¾-million mark this week with “Pontoon” moving another 94,000 copies. Never has the band struck a chord with audiences, even with early Digital single favorite “Boondocks” (maybe all their hits should be one word with “oo” in there somewhere?). The last two week’s #1 Digital Country Single, Jason Aldean’s “Take A Little Ride” sits at #2 and has sold 352,000 copies in just three weeks on the charts. Carrie Underwood’s fast rising single is our Riser of the week yet again (at least in the Top 30) as she jumps 8 slots to #3 from #11 last week. It’s the first time since “Blown Away” was released as a digital single that the song has returned to this position. Look for it to be in the Top 5 for the remainder of the song’s run on the radio charts. Sitting at #4 is last week’s #3, Hunter Hayes’s signature hit “Wanted.” The song is only 107,000 singles away from selling Platinum (which means roughly 2 weeks). Kenny Chesney’s latest #1 hit “Come Over” rounds out the Top 5  and it has sold nearly 750,000 copies.

Love and Theft Score First Gold Single With Angel Eyes

With 43,000 fans taking the single home, Love and Theft become the latest new artist of 2012 to score a Gold single (not yet certified) with sales now 21,000 past the 500,000 Gold mark. The song is currently aiming to become their first #1 hit as well on the airplay charts (next week is a strong possibility). Right behind Love and Theft is fellow young country star Luke Bryan with “Drunk On You.” The single has moved nearly one and three quarter of a million downloads and should finish out 2012 as the artist’s second Double Platinum single (joining “Country Girl (Shake It For Me).” Gloriana looks like they’ll eventually score Platinum with “(Kissed You) Good Night” while their album debuts at #2 on the country albums chart [click here to read].  Tim McGraw’s Big Machine Records debut “Truck Yeah” sits at #9 again this week and has now moved over 200,000 singles in about 5 weeks while “Springsteen” rounds out the chart with Eric Church’s latest #1 radio hit having sold nearly 1.6 million copies.

Riser of the Week: “Fastest Girl In Town” Miranda Lambert

Lee Brice’s “Hard To Love” inches closer to Gold sales status as the Curb artist has moved 408,000 copies of the single (meaning it’ll be roughly 3 weeks before he’s officially Gold). Speaking of Gold, Dierks Bentley’s “5-1-5-0” recently attained the feat while also being his 10th #1 hit at Country Radio. Up and comer Dustin Lynch is close to scoring a Gold record himself for break-out hit “Cowboys And Angels” while Jana Kramer’s “Why Ya Wanna” and  Josh Turner’s “Time Is Love” are only two to three weeks away themselves. Miranda jumps 16 slots and into the chart rundown this week with “Fastest Girl In Town.” The reigning CMA Female Vocalist of the Year gained 7,000 singles sold over last week to achieve the feat.

Next week we’ll likely see Colt Ford & Jake Owen’s “Back” jump into the chart while we’d be remiss without mentioning it and Hunter Hayes debut single “Storm Warning” as our Risers of the Week outside of the Top 30 for both (Ford is up 9 slots to #32 and Hayes re-enters the chart at 50 and is less than 50k away from another Gold single).
