Chart News For August 22 2012: Uncaged Rebounds To #1 For Zac Brown Band; Blackberry Smoke Debut

With 25,000 copies sold, Uncaged from Zac Brown Band returns to #1 while Zac Brown Band's labelmates at Southern Ground Artists Blackberry Smoke debut in the Top 10 at Country Music reatail with their label debut The Whippoorwill. Read on here to find out the rest of the Top 10 and more!

After one week with Colt Ford at #1 on the Country Albums Chart, Zac Brown Band “returns things to order” this week with Uncaged returning to #1 for the fifth non-consecutive week.

The record-setting musical tour-de-force that is Zac Brown Band returns to #1 this week with Uncaged once again moving the most country music albums (by one album) in the country. They sold 25,000 copies to bring sales totals up to 456,000. Carrie Underwood experiences some sales gains at reatail this week and has surpassed the 700,000 copy sold mark with Blown Away. Right behind her is Luke Bryan’s 1.3m seller Tailgates & Tanlines. Last week’s #1 album, cot Ford’s Declaration of Independence slides down to #4 and has now sold nearly 50,000 copies in jsut two weeks. Rounding out the Top 5 is Lionel Richie’s sure-to-be-nominated for CMA Album of the Year  Tuskegee, a record full of duets. Amazon and Best Buy sales have helped the record return to the Top 5 this week (it was outside the Top 10 last week).

Welcome To The Fishbowl Leads #6-#10 On Top Current Country Albums Chart

With 13,000 more copies sold, Kenny Chesney’s Gold-certified Welcome To The Fishbowl slides to the 418k scanned mark (RIAA certifications are different than actual sales #s). Right behind him is the 1,000,000 seller Chief from Eric Church, his first Platinum album. Southern Country Rockers Blackberry Smoke score an impressive debut with over 9,000 fans taking home their strong The Whippoorwill album home (1,000 or so have already picked the album up this summer at the band’s shows, giving them 10k total). Hunter Hayes also moves 9,000 copies this week of his Hunter Hayes Atlantic Records release, bringing his sales totals to 210,000. Jason Aldean will release a new album in October but until then his fourth album My Kinda Party remains a top-seller with sales totals nearly 3 million strong.

Notable CDs this week include Rascal Flatts, Gloriana, Love and Theft

Big Machine Records’ Rascal Flatts scores an impressive sales gain with Changed this week landing the veteran trio the #11 best-selling country album in America with Gloriana right behind them with their own A Thousand Miles Left Behind from Emblem/Warner Brothers Nashville. Lee Brice isn’t all that Hard 2 Love with his Curb album nearing the 200,000 albums sold mark as the title track looks to follow “A Woman Like You” to both the Platinum and #1 chart slots. Alan Jackson’s Thirty Miles West moves over 200,000 sold, his best all-new album sales numbers since 2008’s Gold Good Time album. Rounding out our rundown is Love and Theft with their debut for RCA now having moved 28,000 copies in three weeks on the chart. The duo recently scored their first #1 hit with the Gold-selling “Angel Eyes.”
