Taylor Swift Remains #1 with the divisive “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” while four songs go Gold this week, including Dustin Lynch’s debut single “Cowboys And Angels.”
307,000 more singles sold brings Taylor Swift on the cusp of another Platinum single with “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” a feat achieved in only three weeks, something that most surely is a record in the digital single realm. Little Big Town is up one this week to #2 on the Top 30 Digital Singles Chart (based on SoundScan) with Pontoon moving another 79,000 copies Making the lead single from the Quartet’s upcoming Tornado a Platinum single, the group’s first ever Platinum single (their second album The Road To Here is also Platinum). Last week’s Gold single, Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” slides down to #3 this week with a 15,000 single sales drop. Still, she’s well on her way to yet another Platinum hit with this single. Hunter Hayes, also went Platinum last week with his now Top 5 Airplay radio hit “Wanted.” The single, which has yet to hit #1 on the Digital Singles chart, should eventually rise to #1 on the Airplay chart (Little Big Town is #2 this week on that Billboard chart). Hunter was also the only artist in this week’s Top 5 to score a sales increase over last week. Rounding out the Top 5 is Jason Aldean’s Take A Little Ride, now his latest Gold single as it joins four other Gold singles this week.
Lee Brice’s “Hard To Love” and Dustin Lynch’s “Cowboys And Angels” Are Gold Singles
This week’s #6 single, Lee Brice’s “Hard To Love,” has surpassed the Gold sales mark this week, joining Aldean. Recently certified Gold single “Angel Eyes,” from Love and Theft is the seventh-best selling single this week. Tim McGraw’s “Truck Yeah” remains at #8 this week while Kenny Chesney’s recent chart-topper (both this Digital Singles Chart and the Airplay charts), “Come Over” sits at #9. Rounding out the Top 10 is this week’s third Gold award recipient, Dustin Lynch, who not only goes Gold with “Cowboys And Angels” but he has also scored a Top 10 hit with the track while his self-titled album debuts at #1 on the Top Current Country Albums chart. Needless to say, it’s a huge week in his (and Broken Bow Records’) world.
Risers Of The Week: Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan, & Brantley Gilbert
With a sales gain of 8,000 tracks, Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruse” is well on its way to breaking the Top 10 digitally as the album also surpassed the 250,000 sales mark this week while still sitting outside of the Top 30 at Radio. Gold/Platinum and Top 10 seem all but given for this swift riser. Rascal Flatts surpasses 200,000 sold with their latest hit “Come Wake Me Up” while Josh Turner scores the fourth and final Gold Record this week (on this tally) with “Time Is Love” becoming his fifth Gold single (the others are “Long Black Train,” “Your Man” “Why Don’t We Just Dance” and “Would You Go With Me”). Getting Back to the other two risers of the week, we have a 12 slot jump for Digital kingpin Luke Bryan’s latest “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye” looking to join his platinum/multi-platinum hit parade while Brantley Gilbert’s “Kick It In The Sticks” has sold over 300,000 singles before ever getting a real shot at country radio (it was his only single while signed to Average Joes Entertainment, a place that helped the single sell at least 200,000 of these singles and 200,000 of the Gold Halfway To Heaven album).
Other Notable Debuts: Dierks Bentley debuts at #47 with “Country And Cold Cans” while Sarah Darling debuts at #50 with “Home To Me,” a remarkable slot for an artist without much of any Top 40 radio hits to date (despite releasing two criticially acclaimed albums). Dierks Bentley sold nearly 9,000 singles while Sarah Darling sold over 8,000, respectively. Dustin Lynch’s Album track “Hurricane” debuted at #96 with over 4,000 tracks sold. Next week’s chart will likely see a few more surprises along with that Gold Taylor Swift single. As usual, we’ll have the breakdown here.
