Chart News For July 11, 2012: "Welcome to The Fishbowl" Still #1; Skylar Laine Debuts

for the third week in a row (all three weeks on the market), Kenny Chesney's Welcome To The Fishbowl sits at #1 with another 43,000 fans taking home his latest album. Read on here to see where the other top stars landed, along with five notables, including Idol Skylar Laine's debut with her EP.

This week, Kenny Chesney remains at #1 on SoundScan’s Top 10 Country Music Album’s chart and thanks to an Amazon sale, Lionel Richie’s back in the Top 5.

With 43,000 copies scanned this week, Kenny Chesney’s now more ...-- of the way towards a Gold scanning album with Welcome To The Fishbowl. It’s his third week at #1 a run that will most certainly end next week with Zac Brown Band debuting with Uncaged (they have a shot at #1 in the all-genre market). With 22,000 sold, Lionel Richie rebounds from #7 last week to #2 this week, thanks in large part to a pre-4th of July $1.99 and 99¢ sale at Amazon.com. This helped Lionel move 22,000 copies, a 12,000 sales increase from last week! Right behind Lionel on the chart is Luke Bryan with Tailgates & Tanlines. The soon to headline star has sold 1.25 million albums so far with “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye” the fourth single from the project.

Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away Still Top 5

Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away surpasses the 617k sales mark as the title track makes its move on the radio and digital singles charts. Eric Church, who is about to go “Creepin’” up the charts with a new single is riding the success of “Drunk On You” and “Springsteen” all the way to Platinum for Chief, which should be certified soon and surpass the mark not long thereafter. He currently has sold 921,000 copies of the break-out album.

Alan Jackson & Zac Brown Band Drive Rest of Top 10!

After three weeks in the Top 5 of these charts, Alan Jackson slides down to #6 with Thirty Miles West. The album features the recent hit “So You Don’t Have To Love Me Anymore” amongst other potential hits. His tally is now over 160,000 sold. The Now That’s What I Call Country 5 disc has now sold 68,000 copies to fans without digital music access (or those who are really late to buying these hits). Zac Brown Band’s last album You Get What You Give has moved up the charts once again returning to the Top 10 this week, a location it’s likely to stay as their third album Uncaged makes its way on this chart next week. They’ve sold over 1.5 million copies of the record in 94 weeks on the charts. Jason Aldean’s 2.67 million-seller, My Kinda Party moves up one slot to #9 while Last week’s #7 album, Josh Turner’s fine Punching Bag slides to #10 and has now sold over 83,000 albums in 4 weeks on the chart.

Chris Cagle, Skylar Laine Lead Notable Albums

Chris Cagle debuted at #6 last week and this week he has the #11 album in the USA with Back In The Saddle.  His two week tally for his Bigger Picture Group debut is 23,000, not bad considering he ‘only’ got Top 20 with “I Got My Country On” and his long time away from the chart. Right behind him on these charts is the debut album (a Walmart-only EP) from American Idol’s 2012 country girl, Skylar Laine. The 18 year old saw her album sell 8,000 copies last week. It’s a compilation from her time on the popular show with songs like “Gunpowder & Lead,” “Didn’t You Know How Much I Loved You” and “Islands In The Stream” on the five track record. Lee Brice is next up in this week’s notable section with his Hard 2 Love album setting the world on fire. Seven thousand more fans picked up the album giving him nearly 160,000 sold since release week. Chances are high that he’ll eventually land himself a Gold album. The same can be said for Hunter Hayes with his self-titled Atlantic Nashville debut.  Scotty McCreery rounds out our rundown this week as the American Idol 2011 champion has now sold nearly 1.1 million copies of Clear As Day, much of it without much support from country radio.
