Chart News For July 25, 2012: Zac Brown Band, Skylar Laine and Scotty McCreery Lead Top Country Albums Chart

With nearly 80,000 more copies in the hands of fans, Zac Brown Band's third (and possibly final) Atlantic Records album Uncaged leads the way this week. Read on to learn about the latest album sales #s from Idols Carrie, Skylar and Scotty and up and comer Hunter Hayes as well!

After scoring the #1 album in the nation last week, the Zac Brown Band follows up their best ever sales week with a strong second week to land #2 overall and #1 on the Top SoundScan Country Albums chart this week. The Farm enters way down the chart with a disappointing debut for their self-titled debut album.

another 78,000 copies flew off store shelves (and digital lockers) to give Zac Brown Band the best-selling country album in all of the land this week with Uncaged. The highly-praised album (Read our Review here) now has sold 313,000 copies in two weeks. Welcome To The Fishbowl from Kenny Chesney and Tailgates & Tanlines remain #2 and #3 on the country tally this week with each scoring another 23,000 and 22,000 copies sold, respectively. Debuting on our tally (but maybe not the Billboard tally) is Old Crow Medicine Show’s Carry Me Back. The string band moved 17,000 copies of their ATO debut, right behind them at #5 on our country chart is Carrie Underwood’s 644,000-selling Blown Away.

The Chief, Eric Church Remains a Best-seller.

Eric Church’s march to Platinum is nearly here with another 13,000 fans taking home a copy of his superstar-making album Chief while Jason Aldean’s My Kinda Party vaults back into the Top 10 of the rundown after only one week outside of the chart. Hank Williams, Jr.’s latest Old School New Rules sold another 9,000 copies to bring his sales 34,000 strong in just two weeks. Zac Brown Band’s second Top 10 album  You Get What You Give lands at #9 this week with Lionel Richie’s best-selling duets album Tuskegee landing at #10. This album is now the second-best selling new release of 2012 with One Direction’s Up All Night surpassing it the past two weeks.

Notable CDs this week include The Farm and Scotty McCreery

Hunter Hayes continues to make waves with Hunter Hayes selling another 7,000 copies giving him 178,000 copies sold (he’s rapidly gaining traction in the album sales arena as fans come to it after “Wanted”). Josh Turner surpassed the 100,000 sales mark with Punching Bag this week while Skylar Laine remains on the chart again this week with another 4,000 fans taking home her American Idol EP from Walmart. Her fellow Idol alumni, Scotty McCreery sits at #108 on the all genre chart from SoundScan with Clear As Day. The album which features “Water Tower Town” is now at nearly 1.1 million albums sold. Finally, The Farm, who scored a Top 15 hit with “Home Sweet Home,” land on our rundown with 3,000 fans taking home their self-titled debut album, a surprisingly low number for a band with as big a hit as The Farm. Hopefully the well-received album will score the band a couple more hits in the future.

Next week will see the arrival of Love and Theft’s brand new album. As always check back with us to get all the details!
