Country Chart News: Top 30 Digital Singles: The Week of May 18, 2012

This week we find a couple new singles and remarkable gains from Hunter Hayes, Gloriana, Jana Kramer, Zac Brown Band, Blake Shleton and more. Read on to find out about all of the Top 30 Digital Singles this week!

Eric Church once again leads the SoundScan Digital Country Single Charts this week with “Springsteen” once again finding 78,000 fans bringing EC less than 200k away from another Platinum single. Right behind EC is labelmate Luke Bryan with “Drunk On You” which is roughly 161,000 copies away from its own Platinum certification. In fact, the whole Top five are closer to Platinum than Gold. Taylor Swift’s “Eyes Open,” Carrie Underwood’s “Good Girl” (which sold 13,000 more copies over last week), and Kip Moore’s “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck” comprise the Top 5.

Underwood’s “Blown Away,” Hunter Hayes “Wanted” In Top 10

After debuting in the Top 5 last week, the title track to Carrie Underwood’s album Blown Away fell to #6 this week and has now sold 107,000 copies in two weeks. Meanwhile Jason Aldean’s latest #1 hit (on radio) “Fly Over States” is #7 with another 40,000 copies in his coiffers bringing that single to 550,000 sold. Hunter Hayes’ “Wanted” has stormed up the charts with digital sales per radio spin nearly 36:1. Sales have almost hit a quarter-of-a-million copies sold for “Wanted” and there’s no doubt in our minds that it’ll become his first ever Gold (and likely Platinum) single. The ninth-best selling country single is Miranda Lambert’s recent radio #1 hit “Over You,” where it’s just ahead of the nearly platinum hit #1 song, Lee Brice’s “A Woman Like You.”

EYB “Heart”, Gloriana’s “Night” and Jana’s “Why” lead notable tracks this week

Eli Young Band’s take on the Eric Paslay and Will Hoge song “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” has certainly proved popular with fans as their single is a certified hit and has now sold over 370,000 copies. Like Hunter’s single above, all signs point to this still-rising radio hit becoming at least a Gold-selling single for the quartet. This will likely happen in about 6-8 weeks, right about the time the single peaks in August.  Blake Shelton’s “God Gave Me You” gained a 30 track bump this week, thanks to Mother’s Day, making it one of a handful of songs to experience a Mother’s Day Boost. Gloriana continues their rise up the sales chart with “(Kissed You) Good Night”). They are joined by Warner Nashville labelmate Jana Kramer’s “Why Ya Wanna” as the notable tracks this week. Also notably, Tim McGraw’s “Better Than I Used To Be” is about two weeks away from crossing the Gold-selling mark, just as the single continues a remarkable run up the charts (all of this despite being part of an album that was ‘old’ according to a lawsuit brought by McGraw against now former label Curb).

Riser of the Week: Dustin Lynch “Cowboys And Angels” is Top 30

Toby Keith’s “Beers Ago” jumps from 25 to 18 while Dierks Bentley jumps into the Top 30 again, this time rising 14 places to 22 with the infectious “5-1-5-0.” Now officially a Top 25 hit at radio, Dustin Lynch’s debut single “Cowboys & Angels” has broken the Top 30 of the Digital Singles for the first time, landing at #24. One of our new artists to watch in 2012, Lynch has now sold 117,000 copies of the single. The infectious “Time Is Love” rose to #27 this week while Zac Brown Band’s Top 5 radio single “No Hurry” hit the Top 30 of the SoundScan Digital Single chart for the first time.

Some notable new singles this week are Lady Antebellum’s “Wanted You More” (their new single) at #48, with 8,800 plus sales increase. While it’s mostly from the appearance on The Voice at this point, the fact that the single sold 103,000 copies before becoming an official single bodes well for it to becoming yet another Gold-selling single for the superstar trio. Eden’s Edge, another exciting vocal trio, who have their debut album set to be released in June, arrives at #70 this week with over 5,800 sold.

Country singles selling for 69 cents on iTunes this week include “Home Sweet Home” from The Farm, “So You Don’t Have To Love Me Anymore” from Alan Jackson, Josh Thompson’s “Comin’ Around”, Kix Brooks’ “New To This Town” and Tyler Farr’s “Hot Mess.”
