In a move that can qualify as a little bit out of left field, Tim McGraw has finally found a new record label partner for his upcoming music projects. The artist, who is out on tour with BNA Nashville's Kenny Chesney this summer, was long thought to be a possible Warner Brothers Nashville artist given his wife's long-time success at the label.
Still, given the recent success with veteran stars like Jewel (critically acclaimed), Reba McEntire (Gold albums, #1 hits, etc.), Martina McBride and Rascal Flatts (and recent signing of The Mavericks), The BMLG seems like an appropriate home for McGraw to continue his career and it'd make sense for the artist to be releasing a single whenever they're able to follow-up the current Top 10 hit "Better Than I Used To Be" from Tim's final Curb album Emotional Traffic.
From Tim:
“Many people know that I came to Nashville 23 years ago on a Greyhound bus with nothing but a guitar,” said McGraw. “And 23 years to the day, on May 9, I went back to the bus station and officially signed this deal. It was a significant way for me to mark this new beginning. Scott Borchetta has developed a powerhouse at Big Machine, and I’m happy to be a part of what he has built and to call Big Machine Records my new label home. Excited doesn’t even begin to describe how I’m feeling about working on a new album for this next chapter in my career. Here’s to the next 20 years!”
From Scott:
The signing was announced at a Press Conference at Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame by Scott Borchetta, Chairman and CEO of BMLG and McGraw.
