Album Review: Jason Eady - AM Country Heaven

With a sound that is sure to bring joy to traditional country fans, Jason Eady returns with AM Country Heaven, an all-new collection of music for Underground Sound Records. Read on to take a look at what we have to say about the record here.

The record opens with the title track "AM Country Heaven" and it serves as in immediate discussion on the way country music sounds on FM Country Music and how the songs there are 'country hell.' It's the kind of song that most artists in Nashville wouldn't dare record (unless they're superstars like Strait and Jackson on the similarly themed "Murder On Music Row"). The track "Man On A Mountain" features the unmistakable voice of Patty Loveless and the duet reminds me of classic country duets with Eady and Loveless blending seamlessly.  "Wishful Drinking" finds Eady traveling the dusty barrooms a la cacdan old Alan Jackson classic.

"Forget About The Truth" finds Eady telling a story about a woman who knows how to work her magic to get what she wants from men (where they forget about the truth about her). "Paid My Dues" recalls great songs from the past while never feeling like a record that is stuck in a time warp. AM Country Heaven might be a record that recalls classic county music but it never feels like parody or old. Instead it's a modern country music album steeped in tradition while also looking forward without needing to usurp a rock or pop genre to do it.
